PPD: They all look the same to me! Hope that's not a slap to the face :P
There are a bunch of repeats, right? Trying to figure out the timeline confuses me

Dennis, wow. :o Your dedication is amazing! :y: Yet we all need to rest indeed... :ouch:

Videogame mock-up derailed into bike study.

What do you get when you forget to use the transparent color correctly?

32, nice. :) Love that chromatic aberration in the text, and those strong blue shades also give off a magical feel :P

Dennis, that is smooth, man! :o Is it all hand-made, or did you get some code magic in there? That it was made in a day is even more impressive :)

Upper one was last night, skull was tonight.

Dennis, pretty cool! :) Although the tin man isn't supposed to smile, and the scarecrow also looks kinda smart

32, hope that animation is not a nightmare :-X since I think your sprite is too small and polished for comfortable animation. Good luck! :P

lacrymose, that is some nice perverseness ::) I like the 1st one better, but her knee is too thick, don't you think? :blind:

PixelPiledriver, those are some cool delicious faces I saw on your stream today :hehe:

Done last night. Bottom right is from alternate universe where I decided to start rendering shades, but right now I like the upper right one the most (I'm a sucker for large areas of uninterrupted solid color). Would re-touch right sleeve and change the shoes, but meh.

General Discussion / Re: Official Off-Topic Thread 2015

Keeping with the topic of art tools... If I ever did know I could zBrush right from my browser, I had forgotten!

Let this be a public announcement that this still exists: SculptGL

Too fun, even with a stupid laptop trackpad, and it has a Wacom tablet plugin and all! :o
You can keep the mesh and stuff at the end, so it's always worth a try :y: Especially if you're not used to creating 3D art, like myself
There's also downloadable versions for grumpy people who don't want to depend on tools over the Internet (again, myself) so that's an option if you want a simple, standalone zBrush tool ;)

I agree with the general critique that the brown is too dark to be caught in original size. But I guess you'll show it at x2 or even x4 (because with resolutions these days, it's almost a must), so the issue will be smaller.

In regards to the animation, I feel it's too jumpy. It's hard for me to read the position of either leg at any given time...

Pixel Art / Re: [WIP] [C+C] SSB4 Megaman Fire
« on: February 02, 2015, 01:18:56 pm »
Nice! :)

As for the critique:

Having such a strong light source enveloping Megaman should greatly affect the overall hue that he's reflecting.
In other words, he should have a red/orange hue to him, so that he doesn't look disconnected from all the fire.
This is especially problematic in the colder hues, like blue (ironically his main color ).

The fire pillars look nice. But, there are parts of them that still don't look right to me, like the couple of jagged/crooked crab-like extensions they have.
I don't know what to do with those... maybe use a fadeout or something? Fire is hard. :blind:

I see you heavily referenced the SSB4 image, which doesn't seem to really take into account the strong lighting that emanates from the two pillars of fire.
(and this is okay, since it would probably be very costly to render all the lighting changes in the player model accurately while in-game, like with the hue problem I mentioned before)

Where I'm going with this is that I would put the shadows in front of the character ("dramatic"/accurate lighting), while right now he somehow has a strong light that hits the front of him (I guess that way we can clearly see his face as well, but still feels inaccurate).

Hope this helps ;)

Hey! I like super-cute-kawaii-sugoi-desu!

The AA looks excessive to me, to the point where it kind of looks like banding :blind:

Remember the purpose of AA: to give the impression of a bigger color depth, where it needs to.
Right now, it's used liberally in every line, so it just gives a sense of muddiness to it.
It's usually reserved to soften edges, where there would be no space to actually redraw the line for it to be softer...
I'm no expert on AA, of course. Just my two cents. ;)

And just so we're clear, this is an example of actual pixelart and not oekaki (right?)
Since you took care that the lines were always 1px wide and then AA'd the hell out of it

Very cute! :)

Left leg looks thinner than the right one, since you don't do anything with the space that's between them.

Shadows are somewhat lazily placed :-X, mostly in the sweater-- they show the volume and folds of the sweater, but don't make much sense in the context of the lighting.

Right hand doesn't seem like its making enough of a contact with the left elbow to serve as support (unless s/he is just placing her/his hand in his/her stomach)

The inner arm joint (opposite the elbow) is not defined, giving it a vibe similar to Adventure Time Extremities(tm) (which I'm not much of a fan of ).
I would make a line there... in the shape of an inverted U, more or less. Hopefully you know what I mean. :blind:

I think a good choice for achieving that effect is to use a different color of space void.

So, for example, use dark blue for either the traversable or non traversable parts. ;)
