Pixel Art / Re: Some question about dithering

Don't want to sound like an ass but to be honest I see no dithering there.
Keep your light source consistent and try to create some form of texture to show it's really a tree. Then think about dithering if you really need it

2015  :o

i must have been working on it since then, because it looks much better than the versions posted here
right now I'm really rusty because I haven't been doing any kind of pixels in a long time (my usual kind of pixelart if you're interested - 1 2 3).

Right now I'm steering away from being accurate to the photo (the first post here) to spontaneous corrections "what feels right".
EDIT:

Well, a year ago it looked like that, I've just found that and started drawing.

I don't really care if it's extremely accurate to the ref photo, I use it mostly to deal with shading and basic proportions of human head. These of course may suck as it's my first pixel portrait  :P

Pixel Art / rafal's sketchbook again

Hi, it looks like my previous thread is not here anymore, so I'm starting a new one. After a year or something I decided to give that portait another try, so maybe I'll finish it this time.

Looks way better now, but I think there is one strange thing in skin palette - the brigtest and darkest areas are made very smooth but they look like two separate palettes - in these places where they mix they don't work too smooth, even when you're using that cool antialiasing.

The one thing I'd suggest about hair is to get rid of most of there lines and focus on lighting, as it is on the painting ;)

I was looking at the original photo in the other window, but such big color count is really annoying in graphx2  ;)
Thanks, I didn't know that it's so important.
