Thank you !! i'm going to check videos about those games !

"there are plenty" i thought there would be only very few of them

EDIT : omg legend of mana o_0  it also shows that having 8 directions sprites is really better with this kind of graphics

General Discussion / Hand Drawn RPG-style game ?

Hi

do you know some games where you move your character and the background is handdrawn like this one ?
http://db.tigsource.com/games/sunset-over-imdahl

From a top down view or 3/4 top down view and without tiles ?

Like a point and click but you control the char with arrows

2D & 3D / Trying to animate my first Character (walking 3/4 top down)
« on: November 10, 2012, 06:33:38 pm »
Hi,

this is not pixel art so i post here,

I'm trying to make my first animated character, and it's hard :x I never animated anything
I think i'm almost done with its walking animation, i just need to ink it with my mouse and gimp (boring -_-) and using layers, transparency to simulate onion skin...

The first attempt was done without a "skeleton" and it was bad, also i drew in a too large scale, this time i shrinked it but it's still too huge i guess, i should have drawn smaller. And the perspective is medium i guess, especially the back view, i spent lot of time on it and i'm still not satisfied wth it...

The white poses are the good ones, the rest are only trials.

Do you think it's enough to make it walk ? i know some things must be reworked a little, so if you wanna correct the drawing, do not hesitate plz :p (the back view, or the second drawing with the left leg which looks too long imo)

thank you if you help :x

PS : if you know some tutorials or examples/templates about this kind of animated drawings, tell me please !

also i dont speak NL but i found where to register,

the only way to save your work is to register, login and update the picture (then save as) ?

it looks really interesting, but i didn't test it a lot, can you tell if its possible to import a picture ? i'd like to draw from my detailed sketches I scanned. I have to resize them before then copy and paste ? which size ?

yes it's a nice tool, i use the same technique on paper

also, when you press shift you can draw a line from the last dot, but if you press ctrl + z and then you try to draw a line, the line will be created at the last dot which have been erased by the ctrl + z, it's quite confusing (in gimp it takes the last pixel "alive", not the pixel which has been undone)

i hope it's nderstandable

it looks like this tool exists for a long time so what i said above is certainly useless ^^

i checked the tutorial and so you draw the skeleton then you move it, you see if it's smoothly animated and then you redraw your character following the new skeleton ?

is that how it work ?
