Pixel Art / [WIP] Partisan Tactics Battles : Animations, woah

The game concpet being somewhat similar to FFT, this is a set of all of the male none-character job classes, colored to be your party's troops.  Heads are unique to the person, not the class, and are laid over the body as a separate image.  i used a couple of different heads here just for the sake of breaking the consistancy (at first they all had the same head and looked a bit odd all together like this)


and for those interested in the jobs themselves.....

Within a job tree, the none-character soldiers may upgrade themselves 3 times.  Other skills (theft, beast-riding, oration, etc) can be learned by any job class by accomplishing certain feets as part of the respective guild's journeyman quests.  Characters have classes unique to themselves but may also join guids.  hope it makes sense :P

im looking mostly for crits on the appearences but crits on the system itself are also welcome

and now for something completely different, a bronze statue of a black man




basically what ive tried to do is use 16 colors (actually ive only used 15 so far) to create the illusion of dozens of colors.  I also wanted to take a break from the anime-styled game art ive been doing and go back to realism for a trip.  the palette has some new colors too, since i had to choose carefully.  if people are wondering, im not going to dither this piece because i felt that the texture was undesireable and it destroyed the 'shininess' by shattering highlights.  may ill work it into the shadows, but i think this one is going to stay as blocks of color without too much blending (though i tried to fit as much textures as i could, probably could have done more...)

concerns? critiques? random comments?

btw colors are keeping with my view of the world as being highly saturated an composed of all colors woven together.  im open to suggested changes, but i want to keep the saturation levels pretty high :P

just posting this here as a general appology to the people i have or may have really pissed off the last week or two, ive been dealing with a rather serious personal-turned-legal matter and ive said some things that, looking back, i really wish i hadnt said to people (and hope that i would have phrased things better under normal circumstances, or simply not have said anything)

this is ment to be a positive, beneficial community and im afraid ive unintentionally contributed to a level of conflict that i neither intended nor am proud of.  i cant take back the stupid crap, but i do offer an appology (particularly to helm, but also to anyone and everyone else)

if you felt stepped on, feel free to let me know in this thread and i will be sure to appologize

this is a bit old, but i dont think ive ever asked for a real critique on this, and since the project is being dusted off, i think i should (ive got to do a bunch more in all the same style, so i should make sure people like the style before i go ahead and make 10)

intended to be a sprite for a menu background (and cropped version for dialogue boxes), its probably the largest work of mine



i think this was very much my first real attempt at extensive color mixing,a nd i probably used a few too many colors in the process while still managing to skimp on some areas. i may well edit this at some point but for now im considering it finished (i havent opened the file in months :P)

does anyone know a 3d program that........

- is free to download
- is simple
- is easy to use (unlike gm which can be tedious as hell)
- can disable perspective
- can import textures
- can render precisely

if you dont, i suppose well have to use gm, but id prefer to find something that i can use myself

note; this is for a pending adventure game project, and we want prerendered backgrounds

these are a bit old, but ive never offered them up for formal critique.  made for an isometric project that i would one day love to revive, i figued id post them here.

2 styles of house that upgrade Lv1-3, and then over on the right is a strip housing which is better defended and houses more people per pixel, but also can only be built once the town has been upgraded to a city.

thoughts?

This is a wicked WIP, atm its just got a rough liner on the rotation, but if people could point out anything they see wrong now, before i put a lot of work into something that doesnt rotate right?  im going to come right out and say it - im a piss-poor animator, so i need all the help i can get on this :P
