Pixel Art Feature Chest / Re: Dragon/dinosaur head and body

Hm, I tried to frankenstein some parts from the old sprite (the back, some parts of the frontlimbs) and tweaked around a lot. The problem is, I somehow forgot how I even did the scale texture so...

Not very sure whether I like it better or not.

Hm, I think the mountains should still be a bit darker than the sky. Going whiter than the sky gives a very bizarre appearance that Im not sure what it implies. Mist? Short draw distance?

Was reminded of this, so applied some of the pixel-learning gained from the pumpkin. Hope it's better?

Hm, true...
I didn't consider it an actual character while doing it. I'll try to take that into account on my future sprites!

Maybe it looks that way because you have convinced yourself that your version looks fine? Psychology is a strange thing like that.

However, regardless of whatever 'errors' you perceive in ErekT's sprite, you should follow the advice rather than brushing them off. (aka avoid shading until the animation and proportion are correct)

By mirroring he meant that when the right leg is to the front, the left arm is also to the front. Walking has the same kind of motion, though understated. Watch people walking, running or jogging and note how they move their arms and legs. (also, if you can, note how long their bodyparts are in proportion with one another.)

Basically...

Shorter legs, longer torso, more room between the groin and the bellybutton...
Realistically the breasts would probably be less perky, as there is nothing holding them up like that.
Also she needs more definition on her knees, shoulders and belly.

I've been letting my pixel-art inspirations fester for a while, and I come back with another attempt!
Sadly Im still having trouble understanding the ramblethread, but I tried to avoid one-pixel clusters for the most part..?

Edit:
Uploading it made me do some more tweaking, very inconvenient.

As a gamer I feel this might be a bit unhelpful as an UI - the exact height of the mp and hp levels are hard to see from behind the character-plate.
I'd suggest leaving at least a strip of color on the borders or some such.

Indeed... Should I antialias into the background? I was wondering if its ok to do that, or if the sprite should be able to stand on its own.
I'll try to refine it a bit more.

Edit:

Added an extra color to antialias the sprite into the background. Im not sure if thats what you meant, but...
