Devlogs & Projects / Re: Kickstarter thread!
« on: August 03, 2015, 07:31:43 pm »
Our fellow Cyangmou just put his Kickstarter online ! This is awesome so check it out and back it.
We need to support high quality pixel art and show the public that indie pixel art doesn't mean cheap art.

Pixel Art / Re: Foggy city in rain
« on: February 28, 2015, 07:51:49 pm »
I feel like the main problem is the fog, it implies that the horizon is much lower (almost as if the fog is actually mountains), I'd suggest to add faint lights and building silhouettes in the fog to show that the city still continues even there up until the horizon; additionally, if you're keen on making the city disappear into the fog - try and make it more gradual, so that it doesn't just suddenly disappear.

It's a really solid edit. Much better perspective & atmosphere.

Pixel Art / Re: Miner/Henchman Character

The whole shape is pretty cool, but the shading is really too soft, you have far too many colors in my opinions.
Gradients are usually not considered pixel art. Because of them, all your surfaces look smooth & pudgy.
On the other side, the pick and the shovel are totally flat. Also you can project some shadows from the arms on the body.

Pixel Art / Re: Walk (failure)
« on: December 30, 2014, 09:31:45 pm »
How is it a failure ?
It's better than 95% of walk cycles seen in video games these days.
Consider it a base animation you're going to iterate upon.

It's just a bit "bland" as is, but you can enhance it, specifically the toes. The arms are a bit boring too. But overall the animation is really smooth, the character is grounded correctly in the floor, we can sense the weight, the speed, the balance, so I guess it's a success, not a fail at all. Just add a bit more spice & flavor to make it pop and a bit less realistic and it should be good.
