Didn't Mario RPG use this technique?

Hmm... something about this bothers me.  It doesn't really feel like she's resting her head on her hand or her elbow on her knee.  It looks like she's holding her arm in that position without putting any weight on it.  I'm not sure exactly why, but that's the feeling I get.
Great job, though!  The lineart is great, and I really like the shading so far.

I'm hesitant to join (due to my limited skills), but it looks like so much fun, so...
I'm in!  (hopes to avoid public ridicule and bannage)
I like cool fantasy type things; monsters, warriors in armor with weapons, all that sort of stuff.  I enjoyed the Lufia series as well as the Snes Final Fantasies.  I also like a variety of creatures; salamanders, crawdads, trilobites, turtles, anything along those very general lines.

This is my first shot at a Pixeljoint weekly challenge type thing:

Pimento Jim, the food warrior with the head of a, well, pimento.

Sadly, I only have a passing knowledge of anatomy so I'm sure that there are problems much deeper than his three fingered digits...  Also, working with only ten colors was kinda difficult for me, so I eagerly await what y'all have to say.

Uh, never mind him...  Here's a new portrait I've made (well, actually an older one that I've edited) of Schleiden, a botanist who did stuff with cell theory.

I referenced this picture: http://home.datacomm.ch/biografien/images/schleiden.jpg

Good to see you here LoreA (or Gara or whatever you wish to be called).  I can't really give you more than moral support from the sidelines, but I look forward to seeing what people have to say about your stuff.  I'm sure I use way too many colors on my things, but your lower colorcount style might be more up this collective alley.

maybe this will help probably could be better but I wanted to just illustrate how I would approach this characters walk.. I think you should work out the motions before going too far into your characters design.

The arms aren't moving quite right; the left arm needs to be forwards when the left leg is back, and so on.

He's at 2x, not 3x.

Ah, Tibia style...  An interesting thing, where photoshopped and pixeled works freely intermingle, where color limits are rarely if ever followed.

However, I think you're a bit too close to Tibia's dragon amulate for comfort, eh?
Ah well, here's an edit with 10 colors; the other edits are good too, I just couldn't resist doing something in my primary style.

Thanks Adam and Froli (Ariakas?)!  It does look a lot better without the outline, Adam, and Froli...  o.0, it's amazing!  I have a lot to learn yet... I didn't want to become defendant on what you provided, so I had two windows open, one with the photo and one with my original, with yours just offscreen so I could look at how you did something but hopefully not copy it exactly.  This is the result:

Pixel Art / A Portrait

Hello!  This is my first thread and post on Pixellation, and before I get to the actual portrait, I just wanted to say how impressed I am by the general quality of the stuff on this forum; it's given me a lot more motivation to try stuff out and to improve my pixel art skills.

That said, here is something I made recently, a small portrait I made referenced from the picture found here:

Any comments and criticisms would be greatly appreciated!
