Pixel Art / Seven Deadly Sins
« on: March 26, 2006, 09:31:43 pm »
I'm planning to try and do a project designing characters representing the seven deadly sins.  It's based on character designs I've had in my head for a while, but I was re-inspired to try the project after watching FMA and it's Homunculi.  These characters aren't based on the FMA homunculi, though, so they won't look much like them.

Here's what I've done so far, just the head of Gluttony:

I put more time into that than you may expect because I started over twice with the lineart before deciding I liked it, then wasted additional time messing with the pallete trying to find one I was happy with.  I still don't love this pallete, but it's the best one so far.  I feel like I could probably get just as much out of this with fewer colors, though...

Please post any crits, comments, suggestions, and edits you have.  Thanks <3

I don't see a nose anywhere on that, guys...and I don't see that as a beard, it looks to me like the ruff of his coat

I know how hard it is to redraw the frames for animation, but you're gonna have to for this--the arms move completely wonky, and the leg movements just aren't that great either...

I'm gonna have to agree with that last crit--the first post has a lot more personality in it--the shape of the arms and legs are much better as well.

here's some portraits of creatures--I've already colored them, but I'll wait a bit to see how you guys do them before I post them

JPEG format really ruins the image...try posting in GIF or PNG format...

Here are my new results. Just a small explosion.

it looks good at 1X size, but if you're planning to make the game more than that, as I'm guessing you are, it looks a little odd when you zoom in because each fram basically just adds a color on top of the previous frame...
