Pixel Art / Re: help animating game character

Here are all the frames:

My suggestion is that you animate him without the jacket, as as stickman, and since the game style matches with the look of a stickman, you won't even have to edit this basic animation much. Once you get the basic animation right, adding clothes/details will/should be much easier. Final step is adding some extra animation to spice it up, like the hair on my character. You need to break it into steps. Then again, I never tried to animate a character with such "baggy" clothing item, but I really think you can't make much useful progress until you animate the basic shape first (without clothes).

Much earlier I was dealing with animating a character, perhaps my progress can be of educational value:

I think this was the final version of side view:

I was trying to say that most cars there have the same basic shape, so when a newbie like me is faced with slightly different shapes and proprotions...he is lost. :)

Dr_D, I think Berlinetta 1960 is pretty much right, regarding the shape. Check out the blueprint, or this image:

Interesting design. Do you have some concept art or environment done? It's hard to tell if you are going in the right direction if we are not aware of the style you are trying to convey.

Also, can you show the frames you got so far?

Thanks, but I'm aware of the work from http://www.pixelcarart.com/ , and while it is useful in some details, I find it constricting for what I'm trying to do.

Anyway, more progress on the 3rd model, but still can't get the front part right. Maybe I need to rethink it once more. Slow, but rewarding process. Hope I'm learning something...

I would agree with Ymedron here. You seem to be mixing perspectives here. Always imply 3rd depth by making lower objects/entities to appear being concealed by higher objects/entities in front of them. It depends on the engine your are using. If it's not allowing a foreground layer (which would, for example, contain walls), this concealing must be "faked" by very pixel tile work.

I really dig the details on the dirt ground, although I think the green leaves appear like pasted over it, and not growing from it. Maybe add some shadow there. Also, maybe you are mixing too many different type of details there (moon craters, light areas, dark areas; a bit inconsistent and generally too much one such small area).

In the end, the implied height of the wall is not consistent with the height of characters.

I overall impressed by the quality of pixel work and it's the skill level I would kill for, so you are really little from making kick-ass pixel art. You only need to concentrate more on these perspective/size/style problems. The very technique, for my standards, is excellent.

Perception is a marvelous thing.

Emphasis on game development. Not saying programming in general is easy. On the contrary.

It's still in my opinion EASIER to master a programming language than drawing or composing music, as it is mostly skill, very little talent.

Sorry if I appear uninvited, but I felt like increasing the HUE and VALUE contrast more with the dirt:

Honey Valentine -  I think there are some problems with the proportions. The head appears too small compared to legs (or generally, size of extremities compared to head and torso are off). I like the usage of colors and the design overall (fluffy slippers).

Ixya - Again, I love the colors here, and the anatomy is much better compared to Valentine. Her posture lacks balance, though. I think you need to shift the center of weight a bit forward, and her hands definitely need to be corrected (do you have the reference image available online?).
