Pixel Art / Re: [WIP] [C+C] Forest level tileset

I like most of it  ;D the background needs work though. It would be great if it used a couple wood shades for tree trunks then put on a background, as well as having treetops in the back. There are also some anatomy issues with warthog, but I'm not sure if that's intentional. Overall, I like it! The treetops could use shading, as well as the trunk in the background.

Looking good! What is this for? Just a fun bit of art or are you planning on putting it in a game/future artwork? Remember that you can shrink the reference image to help with forming it. How are you planning on coloring it?

The only problem with expanding him is set enemy sizes. He's already 16 wide at the beginning of the animation, giving him nowhere to go. Should I make him less wide or should I let limitation trump realism?

all intented to be viewed at 2x zoom. C+C welcome!
Also, what should I call him? (puns on jack-o-lantern or pumpkin are preffered)

On the kirbyness, you could make the character look a lot like it but adding to the tortured soul/violent feel (razor-sharp teeth, clamped-open eyes, creepy forced grin, etc). It'd creep out former kirby players for sure.

Thanks for the reply! About shading, the game engine has built-in lighting so i'd need to increase frames from a total 50-60 per char to about 400-480  :yell: is there any other way i could improve the hand?
He is supposed to be late teens-early twenties. Also I agree on the hair, i'll post a revised version soon. Also, the animated version has 4 frames, in the order 1-2-1-3. Not sure if that helps you understand.

Pixel Art / NPC/Character Base/outline

as some of you may know I'm working on an odd blend of RPG/Metroidvania game that has the overworld of an RPG, but when you enter a battle, instead of being turn-based you actually fight against monsters with different attack styles to help keep the game interesting to the very end. These are two very basic outlines I plan on using for characters and NPC humanoids.
For Males
For Females.
where should I go from here? anything I should do to change the basic outline, or any problems with the heavy black outline? the game overall is inspired by the early Final Fantasy games, so that should give some help as far as style of graphics.

This is my first attempt at making a hero for my game.

if the hair looks familiar, it's rather similar to tsugomo's in his pixel tutorial  :P I can't draw hair very well so thats what i'm most concerned about. Is he too simple?
c+c are very welcome again :D
