Is she here?

Howdy :)

I wanted to pixel Gilgamesh. Trying to give him big hunky swagger. Also want to improve the animation. He's supposed to be walking south:

What must improve?

All input appreciated. Thank you!

Hey folks,

I tried to pixel again, first time in a million years. I want to make an RPG character 32x32. Here he is:

Tell me how you think it can be improved! C+C  ;D

Pixel Art / 8x8 Chess Pieces
« on: September 30, 2016, 02:11:09 am »

Imagine an RPG like pokemon gold, but instead of pokemon battles, you have chess battles. And each town would be themed on specific openings. And you would could buy different chess sets, bet on battles to get money, take down morally rotten occupational governments, challenge gym leaders, breed, etc. Maybe someday...

How to improve these pieces so far?  ???

I haven't done any pixels in way too long so I was fiddling around the other evening. I was using arne's palette I think. Just trying to keep the colors low, dimensions small, and still try to convey a personality in a recognizable fashion.

What would you do differently?

Not for anything in particular. Just trying to pixel more frequently.
Looking for general critique.

I don't like the ears, but I don't have the time to figure out what to do.  What can you suggest?

Alright, I'm going to be making a game, and the characters are going to be heads that hop around (because of the timeframe I'm working with here).  The game is going to be very intentionally basic in terms of art, so I'm going to stay around 4 colors per character.

Here is a Frankenstein-type of dude:

I'm at school right now, so this is the best of a sketch I could do in twenty minutes.  I know the forehead for sure needs attention for sure, but what else can you point out? Also, I just noticed now that the eye is still messed up from flipping it, but I have a test to get to in a few minutes.

All C+C is greatly appreciated.

I'm still frustrated by the difference between the values in photoshop and how it ends up looking in my web browser.

Pixel Art / Quick Calibration Question
« on: November 14, 2009, 01:04:38 am »
It's troublesome for me to get the exact colors that I want in Photoshop.  See, Photoshop has this thing called Proof Setup, where you can "proof" your work on different displays.  I usually have it set to Monitor RGB, which should be an accurate represention of how it will look on my monitor when finished, but when switching to Macintosh RGB or Windows RGB, colors become undesirably darker and bolder.  Then when I actually save the thing, and view it outside of Photoshop, the colors end up being somewhere between Monitor RGB and the bold and dark Windows RGB.

Anyways, long story short, do these seem like "normal" pixel colors to you?  If enough people think it looks okay, I think I'll just put my obsession over exact-exact-exact colors to rest.  Otherwise, I think I have some calibrating to do somewhere.

(Also, feel free to critique.  It's supposed to be Bill from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. :P)

UPDATE:

Alright, I've been messing with some settings on my display and in photoshop.  With any luck, this version should be a lot more bright than the previous version.

Thank you for all the feedback.
