Very nice art work, i love it!

Thanks man, Im actually curious how you found this thread in September since I haven't updated this since February, (Must have been on page 11!) lol.

Got my right hand cast off. Back to pixeling and finally available for work again.

I grew up working on Byond. The engine was restricted to 32x32 so I specialize in Micro art. That also means if i do something large it will be pretty detailed. Style changing also comes easy. Though I enjoy cheerful art over dark art. As you notice I tend to get involved with anime.

General Discussion / Pixel art with TouchScreen's
« on: February 23, 2010, 11:56:17 pm »
I'm typically a technology guy who's ready to try anything that seems like it would help finish pixel work at faster pace. Heh, that even includes using two mice if I could find a way. I've tried tablets, they were a little slow and clunky for "pixel art".

Now I am wondering. Has anyone here ever tried doing any pixel art(with their fingers) on any of those new Touchscreen laptops that have been coming out?

- I'm curious to know how fluid things were.

- How accurate were things. (I wouldn't mind taping a pin to my finger or just using nails but there are limits.)

Pixel Art / Trees
« on: January 08, 2009, 09:16:06 am »

This is my history with trees, it seems every time I finish I believe I'm satisfied only to frown upon the work 2 weeks later. Input on that latest tree (09, with all the arrows pointed to it) would be pretty cool. I started out with a blue print (inspired by a post of Helms) but ended up with something totally different seeing as how I was trying to make a tree with a 3/4ths perspective and had struggled for some odd reason.

Things I was trying to achieve include:

• Simplicity
• Removal of noise
• 3/4s perspective.

I've been keeping a look out for any refining techniques that could help with any of these.

Pixel Art / Re: boop boop baloop reference time

Mainly fooled around with the palette. The main things I did:

•With his skin I darkened that midtone (I felt it had mostly lacked contrast).
•I also tried to pour a hint of hue into each color (thinking it would give more "life" into the work and maybe even add towards higher contrast.
•I figured this a guy with his style would wear a tighter inside shirt so I just reshaded it to match that belief.
•For some reason that left arm looks funny(is the hand supposed to be in the pocket?), I did reshade that a bit and actually moved it up by one pixel [from the sleeve down I mean].
-------
Things that still need work:

•Hair; If you mess with Ben's you could get something.
•Messiness; Mainly in the shades as implied by Adarias.
•Skin. I think even my version may lack contrast but I also think Ben's version was too saturated. Maybe a mix between our two versions might get you something.

General Discussion / Re: You've all heard of Rippers, what about "Inkers"?
« on: September 22, 2008, 09:21:44 am »
Hmm, whats this about Arne? Anyway, this response was mostly directed towards Xelados post.

Okay, so we've got alot of different views here, many sharing similar concepts...Lets say you were to place yourself in a scenario where you as artist were to be browsing a forum and happen to stumble upon someone using your entire palette in their art. You mean to say to me you wouldn't be tempted to confront this guy? If you were to accurately place yourself in this position I'd imagine rather than "recognition" from people, the true motive here would be "respect" from that fellow artist.

I think colors are more important then they're being spoken of here. Last week I left this thread thinking of posts from Bob and Ptoing, happy with the replies. But then Skamocore brought it down to a single pixel and thats what made me think, "thats what it really comes down too". But as soon as you expand it it becomes something to talk about. I browse pixel art and when I glare into the creations I feel as if the colors are the heart of the image. Not only that, the way an artist uses color are one of characteristics that help define that unique individual. I personally believe it's one thing to glare at someone's work and try to micmic the palette but when you just ink it it's a lazy and ugly habit. The least you can do is give credit to the guy who takes the time to make his own plattee.

Personally would you be annoyed if someone stole the colors of your base? Is using someone else's platte worth getting angry about? Would it be an overreaction? Or are colors, simply "colors"...

I've come here because I'd like to hear the opinions of people who take their art seriously.

Pixel Art / Re: [WIP] 1st Aura Animation
« on: March 25, 2008, 07:34:35 pm »
I think you missed my point, I read you saying you're having trouble making your version look exactly the same, then you need to copy it more precisely, right?

(Just incase, I want to remind people I bumped this from 9 months ago, what I was asking for in the first post is different from now). Instead of just trying to do the whole animation at once, I'm now just trying to do this step by step. I already have references. What I'm trying to copy precisely is one of the clips of the reference. Once I finish copying one of the clips I can proceed to animate it.

I need crits on how to make my aura(left) look more like the one in the screenshot(right). Ie. I need this to match.

Thanks, though I'm more concerned with if the actual aura (paused) matches that screenshot (paused). I'm handling different parts of the aura step by step, I figure theres no point in me animating something that  doesn't look right. I want to see if I can make it look any more like the blueish aura in the screenshot (which seems pretty difficult to interpret) before I make it start moving.
