Pixel Art / The Hidden Passage[WIP]
« on: November 01, 2009, 07:20:59 pm »
I'm sick, so started on some pixel piece to pass the time.

28 colours so far, not planning on passing 32.

Comments and critique apreciated.

Pixel Art / Tiny Creek
« on: August 13, 2009, 01:12:10 am »
Got workin on this a short while ago. Just really felt like drawing some pretty nature stuff.
And it's also a good practice, since water isn't exactly the easiest thing to draw.

It's quite heavy on the colours. Currently 29, not passing 32.
But I feel it's nescassery to really make this as lively as possible.

These two here are my most prominent references.

C&C much apreciated :D

Pixel Art / Dreadnought
« on: July 13, 2009, 09:53:31 pm »
I think this has come far enough to start asking for some critique now.
It's a Dreadnought from the Warhammer universe. I don't play the tabletop game, I do love the Dawn of War RTS games though.
Currently enjoying both 1 and 2.

Anyway, this is it:

It's a pretty ambitious piece, as it is rather large. I hope I can finish this though as I really like it.
There are 15 colours so far. I've used a number of references. The Dreadnought in Dawn of War (You can give it a complete 360 turn in the menu, very handy. You can only twist it horizontaly though)
This image was also a prominent reference.

And furthermore some of the actual models from the games workshop site, and some other drawings.

There are still alot of placeholders. Obviously the surroundings are far from done. And the flash coming from the Dreadnought's gun is also a placeholder.
Some critique would be apreciated.

(I haven't given up on the Jellyfish yet. I just need to come up with some briliant idea for the background.)

Pixel Art / The Deep
« on: May 02, 2009, 02:20:56 pm »
Well, recently the B.O.B said alot of usually active pixelers aren't active at all anymore. And I really believe I'm one of them.
It's been ages since I did any personal pixels. And I think I really need to be doing something again.
So here it is:

Update 1:

I'm pretty content with it so far. Jellyfish are awesome.
I'm using alot of pictures of jellyfish as my reference, with as most prominent:

This one inspired me to make this in the first place, I came across it after browsing some COW challenges over at ConceptArt:

Pixel Art / Bird of Paradise
« on: March 07, 2009, 08:04:04 pm »
I wanted to do something with pretty colours.

It started as a Illustrator doodle at school, and I thought it would look good in pixel art aswell.
12 colours and I want to keep it that way, max of 16 at the most.

Pixel Art / I'm Gonna Kill you Dead
« on: February 08, 2009, 02:48:07 pm »
Here's my first personal piece in a while. I wanted to do something with rather over the top anatomy.
I really on one hand think I should practice regular anatomy alot more, but on the other hand this is way more fun to do. And I really wanna do a fun piece now.
I think I am getting better though, when it comes to anatomy and volumes? I don't know really.
Anyway, all pointers apreciated. I wanna keep the anatomy over the top, but of course I still want to keep the regular human muscle structure.
This was really inspired by this: http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/15585.htm
And a random image that popped into my head.

Pixel Art / La Primera Espada- Bleach Spoiler
« on: December 22, 2008, 07:00:56 pm »
Here he is, revealed the number one Espada in Aizen's army:

Stark
I just had to make a pixel art of him.
Here's my references:

15 colours right now, don't plan on using more then 16.
I'm going for a painting-like look.
Critique very welcome.

Pixel Art / Getting back into that groove
« on: October 14, 2008, 07:34:53 pm »
Finally I'm starting to become a bit productive again with pixel art.
Got about time too. Anyway, here's a w.i.p that I WILL finish. (<--Not a lie)

It's for a competition on Deviant Art for halloween.
First off I wanted to do something scary but it started turning out far too serene really.
But thankfully when I read up the rules again it said spooky, not scary.
And though I don't think it's scary I do think it has a certain spooky feel to it.
Once again a 'grim reaper' kind of character makes his appearance in one of my artworks.
I hope the clothing looks better this time, though!

The colour max is 20 by the way, I think I'm at 17 currently.

Pixel Art / Tiles
« on: May 09, 2008, 12:49:17 pm »
So, I'm making some tiles I'll hopefuly someday use for a game. And also just a bit for practice.
Here's the first one:

Basicly just a main stone with some grass tile.
14 colours if I'm correct.
I'll submit more, as soon as I finish them :)

Tiled:

I know the mech doesn't really fit in. But I havent figured out what to do to fix it either.
Anyway, critique much apreciated.

Portfolios / [Portfolio] Jim Jansen
« on: March 03, 2008, 03:08:59 pm »
Hello. I'm Jim, and I'm looking for paid pixel art positions.
I have a pretty large range of experience with styles, I adapt easily, and I have no problems dealing with restrictions.

I'm looking for paid jobs only.
I´m not gonna bore you with anymore chat now though, and get on to the interesting part:

A Malboro monster from the Final Fantasy franchise.

A mock-up of the shmup Dodonpachi, but with Gameboy restrictions.

An actual custom Dodonpachi ship. Original design and colours. The ship is made to resemble the style of the game.

I don't think a discription is nescassery here  :)

A crashed alien ship that's been claimed by nature. For Pixel Joint weekly challenge, could use 16 colours max; used 15.

The grim reaper.
UPDATE: Won first place in the Deviant Art halloween pixel art contest.

Also for the pixeljoint weekly challenge. Uses 19 colours. This was made to match a discription.
This description told us certain things it had to have: Blue glowing eyes, or red if he's angry. At night, probably misty.
Hairy arms and four legs. Manes on his back. Three horns on his head. Arms have three fingers with one with a long claw.

An underwater scene with some very colourfull jellyfish.

Made for a secret santa here. It's a panda hunting giant monsters  ;D

Bayformers Optimus Prime.
