Portfolios / [Portfolio] tocky
« on: October 22, 2008, 02:27:57 am »
Hello. My name is Matthew Rundle, I've been doing pixel art for fun for probably about five years now. I've posted this here specifically because I'm looking for jobs that pay money, but I'll gladly work on nonprofit stuff with anyone who's fun to talk to and seems to know what they're doing.

Crits, comments, on the roof and water especially, would be mighty appreciated.

Thanks.

Pixel Art / rpg character portraits
« on: June 05, 2008, 08:43:35 am »
I've been drawing all these faces for a while now. I've been having trouble with hairlines and lips, so I'd like feedback on those, but hopefully someone will point out other stuff I can fix. :D

I've been working on this avatar for a few days:

-The last few iterations should have two colours per 4*4 block
-just recently, I've tried to suit it to the pixelation bgcolor rather than the blue one i was using.

Anyhow, I want to know how to make it more better.

Planning to add a bunch of fur texture, but I need some help first on how to make him less flat. Any other crits' be awesome now, too, it's still pretty easy to change stuff.

Pixel Art / [wip] isometric study
« on: August 09, 2007, 01:39:38 am »
Okay. I want to do an iso mockup, because I'm feeling kinda masochistic, but I figured I should do some tests first to see how to tile this stuff together.

There's nothing creative going on at this stage. I want to be able to build landscapes and buildings and caves and stuff out of variations on these tiles. I just want to know if there's anything wrong with how I'm going at this. I haven't had much experience with isometric work, and if there's anything glaringly wrong about how I'm approaching this thing, it'd be nice to know about it at this stage.

He's a robot bounty hunter. He should be more menacing, but  I'm not sure how to do that. Also, I don't really know anything about drawing guns. Can anyone help?

Pixel Art / Some sprites, need help with animation.
« on: July 12, 2007, 03:49:29 pm »
Okay. You're going to have to imagine the transparency because I haven't yet found a animating program that is both free and not retarded. It took a long while to figure out that the free GraphicsGale doesn't output gifs. These were put out by Microsoft GIF Animator, which is pretty far short of an ideal situation.
run:

swim/fly upwards in bursts:

(with wings, for the flying. those aren't done yet.)
Basically, I'm trying to do it so that the top ends of the sprites are pretty static, and without arms, so's I can paste stuff over the top of the sprites and have everything still work.
