Pixel Art / Unofficial Iso Collab 4
« on: October 11, 2006, 01:12:17 am »
Hi there. I really like the Iso Collab 3 that has been worked on here. It rocks! I really wanted to join in, but since it's almost done I wanted to start another one now.

The template below was thrown together by me. Credit to RobAlan - the isometric blocks were pretty much copied and pasted from RobAlan's original template into a new arrangement. The rules below are also taken directly from RobAlan's thread:

Quote
For those of you who don't know the rules, they are as follows:
1. Each person may make one tile, or set of connected, similarly-colored tiles at a time.  For example, you could reserve a single tile, like 75, or you could reserve a block of tiles like {79-88-89} or {21-30-36-44-43} or "That yellow chunk with 35 in it".  Keep in mind that blocks of tiles must be touching along a side and of the same color.  Also, if you do not want to do the entirety of a large block, but want to put tiles in that area, that's fine too.  The block rule is completely optional.
2. Ideally, new tiles should connect to pre-existing tiles, but this rule can be stretched if deemed appropriate.
3. Please announce what tiles you are planning to do.  I will attempt to keep this post updated with the newest version, and mark spaces that are currently in progress.
4. Please try to use colors from tiles that have already been made, so as to attempt to make some semblance of unity in the collaboration.
5. Don't be afraid to break the iso grid.
6. Be creative, and overall, have fun!

I hope this post isn't in the wrong forum or that making this kind of collaboration isn't against the rules. I'm not sure where to begin, so... anyone want to start?

General Discussion / Shawn64 Memorial Game Design Contest
« on: January 22, 2006, 04:12:15 pm »
Hey everyone. Some of you who came here from the Game Maker Community might remember Shawn64, creator of the Jetz Rampage series. He died thursday. A few friends and I are holding a game design contest in his memory. Details can be found at http://dreamisle.dexxent.com/shawn.html and I hope some of you great artists will consider entering.

General Discussion / The Archipelago
« on: December 12, 2005, 12:39:00 am »
No doubt some of you have heard about Game Maker or even witnessed the horror that is the Game Maker Community. Back in the day, I had a pixel project called GM Iso City, where you'd design isometric buildings for a plot of land that would link to your site. Eventually, several inconveniences emerged and I lost interest, but now I have a similar project called Archipelago.

Technically, Archipelago is a Game Maker Community thing, but I want to expand it to pixel art as well. You can make a 32x16 piece of sea (island, boat, whatever) and email it along with a URL to my email address on the site, or you can post it here.

Eventually I hope to add a couple options besides new window, but they'll be different than the options in my tile project (@ http://dreamisle.dexxent.com/tiles/ )

Pixel Art / Isometric Tiles Project
« on: October 29, 2005, 05:48:01 am »
I've been working on this neat little javascript thingy for school and used a bunch of tiles from a challenge I had in a pixel art class I ran last year. I started getting new submissions for this year's class (Saturday nights, AIM me) and also from friends. If you wanna add a tile or two feel free to leave them here and I'll add them. I know someone had a php script for tiles, but this was for school for a javascript assignment anyway. Not too much C+C since some of it's not mine and it's too late to change a lot of it.

Check it out --> http://dreamisle.dexxent.com/tiles/

One of my tiles is my current avatar (as of 10/29/05).

Pixel Art / Huge 4 Color Collage - Finally Updated After 1 Year
« on: October 23, 2005, 10:19:16 pm »
I posted this WIP back at the old board a million years ago or whenever, but just recently I got inspired and added more to it. It's still pretty far from being done, but at only 4 colors it's easy to snag off of my website and work in paint when I'm don'e with my computer programming assignments.

C+C welcome, but it's so big that I probably won't make too many changes to what is already there.

Pixel Art / RCR Store Tiles and Mockups (My First New Pixelopolis Post)
« on: October 23, 2005, 01:35:58 pm »
Hi everyone! I was a member of Pixelation for a little while but not really well known or anything. For a little while I had a small competition with some friends to pixel new tiles and store scenes for River City Ransom. Here are mine:

As you can see, I tried to use some of the tiles multiple times because I know systems have a limit on the number of tiles available. I like the arcade the least because the tops seem too skinny, but it's difficult with that palette and size to create a good illusion of depth. C+C much appreciated, and I'll probably be posting other projects soon!
