I deffinatly like the second one  :P

Only thing that bothers me about it, is that when he's reaching for the lightsaber? or is it popping out of the flesh? can't decide from where hes getting the sword from as the arm is just getting cut off

other then that, pretty amusing to watch :D

Hi Drakojin!

I have not seen your other stuff for your game here (if u have posted them) But I just wanted to comment a few things on ur house :)

When you work with a small piece like this and deffinatly when u have a lot of lines going on (like the roof) I would probably say that; the more colour you use the worse it will probably turn out.

To begin with the roof. the planks is totally messed up, theyr all facing different directions, which is one reason it looks odd. especially the two top ones that is getting bigger as further away they get. The AA could obviously use some work and there are good threads posted in this forum to help you out with that.

About the palette. You should try looking into complementary colours. Was from the beginning created by the impressionist artists who didnt make a shade just black or a darker version of the colour uve used, but instead looked into other colours you might use for a shade. (I love Monét)

Ive made this edit for you, and added just a fast palette to show you just shortly what I mean:

Hope it helps a bit at least!

Gl with your game

Oi oi!

wow, I actually inspired someone  ;D

I like the picture overall but there are a few things I would like to comment on.

First of all, I made this edit:

Very simple edit, I tried to clean the picture up as much as possible. There are a lot of things going on atm. and it really ruins the feeling of it, especially when u put to many objects or action in the sky, when the main focus really is down at the bottom. As ptoing said, the cellout of the wood and the huts is really bad and I would suggest you either do something simple with just two colour or one, like CrazyMLC's edit. with the additional lightsource being just a hint in the dark of the woods. I would also erase the middle swing/lift, distracts the flow of light too much and I would rather put more effort in getting more huts on the sides.

Hope my edit helps u 2 out a bit!

gl and keep the work up

oi oi ptoing!

Very good looking edit! Just what I tried to accomplish. Your perfectly right in what youve said and I always seems to forget them small stuff that actually makes
the picture look more alive and not so flat. I also have an old, silly and dumb way of always putting new colour from the palett instead of looking around in what
ive already been using for an option for a shade, light or something.

This is my edit. Tried to lower the amount of colours used (probably some scraps left of unessecary paint, but I use paint so I dont know how to automaticly lower them):

 ;D

Thanks for the comments!

Made an edit:

This is what Ive changed:

  • A small break of light in the vertical bottom line
  • The light and pose of the guy with the bulls rope
  • The bull got a bit of fur to look more organic
  • Added some uplit leaves on each side to get rid of some of the 2D feeling
  • Changed the colour of the shading

Probably some more small chages that I cant remember now..

hello hello!

been away for quite a long time now.. however, today when I sat down after work,
the rain was pouring down and I got myself a good cup of tea. I started to feel the inspiration flowing into my system
as ive not been pixeling for loads of months I decided to start with something simple and clean.

New

It's not a very complicated picture, but right now and when I stopped ive been into Big vs. Small stuff to create a somewhat magical feeling.
all over I enjoyed pixeling it, but as always it's hard to judge your own pictures, so what do you think?

Edit running animation (Sorry bout the non-transparent):

Tried to make it more living and personally I think it got a lot better, fixed the small movements of his body to be more in a circle also.

This is a quick setup with breathing and slidestop, just to give u a feeling of how it will look moving:

Lots of comments etc. I am doing this in paint and the animations are just made with a simple tree GIF animator
working great atm and is not planning to change to anything more complicated :)

Cool that the thread got popular however, some great crits that I will apply sooner or later.

Working on animate the Guardian atm, and yes he is split in different parts, so everything will be movable as you wish when it's coded and done.
Not something I can do in paint without it becoming rubbish because parts will turn etc. So it will be jagged for some moments.

Starting on some new small enemies that i'll upload as soon as I have time!

Thanks again and merry christmas!

Working on a small platform game to make bonds with a friend of mine who is a programmer.
We decided to not go into anything big yet and started with this

Quick mockup:

The background is just temporarily tho I think it fits very well and the trees are not totaly finished yet.
The waterfall is ready and animated same with the hero. Not too sure about the guardian yet, some small things
I might need to change, but that's why I need your help!

Mockup Edit:

New Interface updates

here is the running animation of our hero:

The thing about the larger picture is I want you to look at several mystic things, not only the girl in the woods. However I get your points and I was not sure about the dithered part neither, Ive taken away the dithering on the isolated lamp and im not sure what to do about the sun yet. Will keep in touch!

Thank you for the comments :)
