[Currently Not available]

Hey!

My name is Johan Aronsson and I work as a freelance pixel artist. Born and raised in Sweden, I've had a dream of doing games and game art since a very young age. I started practicing pixel art as a technique 12 years ago. The dream eventually came true when I started working with clients during the summer of 2013. In 2014 I finished and released my first game Dr.Green(http://t.co/tyQzsOH8pz). I'm currently working with several clients on upcoming games for Smartphones & PC/Mac/Linux. For more information about my projects, art and how to contact me can be found on my site: https://johan-aronson.squarespace.com/

Currently working on

Laser Fury (Studio Thunderhorse  https://twitter.com/ThunderhorseHQ)
Samurai Assassin (Jon Lepage https://twitter.com/JonLepageDev)

Pixel Art / Experimenting with mobile device GUI
« on: February 12, 2012, 05:50:56 pm »
Thought I should put something up. Trying out some graphics for mobile devices. Having a hard time placing and doing a clean and readable, but still good-looking GUI, with no space
and big fingers involved.

Iv'e looked into some adventure/RPG games already on the market. Though I find the lot of them have a messy GUI. Maby you got any suggestions of how to place and do it?

This is not actually going to be a game, just experimenting.

The weapon is a slingshot (but a real one this time, not some giant piece some birds put out in the dessert...)
So you will use the joystick to move (to the bottom left) and the bottoms to the right to select your weapon, items ect. and you use the weapon by dragging on the screen and release, you know the drill.
You can also click the backpack button to open the inventory and drag items to the bottom right slots.

My biggest concert would be the dragging to shoot action. As you dont want to cover up the space around the character with your finger I think it would be better to have some kind of button that you drag
at the bottom right corner, a charge, kind of golfgame thing, but then you wouldnt have any quickslots for items and you don't want to cover up too much space with loads of different buttons.

Oppinions?

(It's probably not exactily the right size of the screen, it would be a bit smaller I think)

Pixel Art Feature Chest / GR#057 - Pirate Game - Scenery, Sprites
« on: June 15, 2011, 06:46:58 pm »
Yoho!

Been some time since I posted something of my own. Been busy with some small game projects to keep the pixeling up.

Decided to start my own little project. A Simple, clean and fun multiplayer game for at least four people.
You will be able to choose between a selection of different characters with their own abilities. On this picture Captain Ramsey and Bottleneck Bob. Captains abilities are guns and weapons. Bobs are just to smash things with his fist.
So, each character will be needed somehow at some point and you will be able to combine their strengh at certain fights. It will be powered by a 3D engine. So the bridge on the picture will get a smooth animation with some gravitystuff ect. ect!
It will hopefully be running on a nintendo DS at some point.

(Background is far from done, still some empty space and things to do.)

Latest:

Just want some hints and tips from what you can see atm. Something worth changing or do in another way perhaps, before I continue.
Worth to add that I work a fulltime job, so it will take some time before it's completely done and playable :( Also trying to keep the colours minimal, so there will be no big time AAing  ;)

Pixel Art / Simple is hard - Polluted city
« on: January 20, 2011, 10:11:09 am »
Oi oi

My weakness is that I use too many colours much too often.

So, I have started trying to Simplify my art a bit. I always tend to get a bit picky when i've done too much for too long and I need to start doing basic stuff again.

Wanted to get a scetchy feeling to it with few but good colours, but at the same time give it a nice feeling.

[Closest layer with pines is very much not finished]

However, it still feels a bit flat to me. Havn't got a clue why, my guess is that it lacks another layer just before the planetary one, but as I said I cant really figure it out by myself!

Pixel Art / City perspective WIP
« on: October 05, 2010, 12:28:42 pm »
Had a really boring day at work today, started to draw a bit during lunchtime.

Afternoon light in a park between the skycrapers (its a work in progress, so feel free to comment or suggest)

(and its not ment to be isometric or anything)

Dont know if I can bend the perspective so much that I could put a city background far away at the top. What do you think?
Im pretty happy with the palette so far, small flaws will be fixed when ive got a good idea of how it will be :)

Pixel Art / People on the move
« on: September 25, 2010, 07:03:48 pm »
hello hello!

been away for quite a long time now.. however, today when I sat down after work,
the rain was pouring down and I got myself a good cup of tea. I started to feel the inspiration flowing into my system
as ive not been pixeling for loads of months I decided to start with something simple and clean.

New

It's not a very complicated picture, but right now and when I stopped ive been into Big vs. Small stuff to create a somewhat magical feeling.
all over I enjoyed pixeling it, but as always it's hard to judge your own pictures, so what do you think?

Pixel Art / Small game project
« on: December 11, 2009, 11:06:33 am »
Working on a small platform game to make bonds with a friend of mine who is a programmer.
We decided to not go into anything big yet and started with this

Quick mockup:

The background is just temporarily tho I think it fits very well and the trees are not totaly finished yet.
The waterfall is ready and animated same with the hero. Not too sure about the guardian yet, some small things
I might need to change, but that's why I need your help!

Mockup Edit:

New Interface updates

here is the running animation of our hero:

Edit running animation (Sorry bout the non-transparent):

Tried to make it more living and personally I think it got a lot better, fixed the small movements of his body to be more in a circle also.

This is a quick setup with breathing and slidestop, just to give u a feeling of how it will look moving:

Tell me what you think (:

Pixel Art / A small light for you guys in the darkest time of the year!
« on: November 27, 2009, 09:46:31 am »

Just a small piece I made last night when I grew tired of Fable 2.

Made a Christmas edition too, just for you!

Im also working on this bigger piece, donno what I feel about it yet tho.. seems like it goes out of the style in the right part of
the picture. But here it is anyway, in progress...

Enjoy this dark season!

Pixel Art / Troll & Fairies WIP [small amount of nudity]
« on: July 06, 2009, 10:45:00 pm »
Hi!

Im working on this new piece. It's a troll and two fairies in a forest. It is not complete at all yet, some major things is still missing and the picture as a whole is not finished yet. Still going to add some things. However, I just want to know what you think about it, what I should change, remove, add, anything before I continue!

I wasnt able to decide if I want it to be normal size or x2, but here you go:

->

(One thing im changing at the moment actually is, the position of the small fairy, she is a bit malplaced on his shoulder, I found out when I uploaded the pic.   ::))
