General Discussion / PJ Weekly Challenge: Love Machine
« on: February 12, 2007, 07:26:57 pm »
As a civilization we've made great strides, but we still don't have a machine that can give us love. The challenge this week is to create a machine that is made for love.

Rules:

  • Animations allowed but not required
  • 32 colors MAX!  Transparency is OK
  • Keep it PG-13 rated (love != graphic sex)

Don't forget to submit your finished pieces to the Pixel Joint gallery by 2/18/2007.

Updates and extended rules can be found here.

Pixel Art / [WIP] Fuzzy Dream (8 colors)
« on: February 01, 2007, 08:21:38 am »
I just started pixelling for fun again after a long hiatus and boy does it feel good.  I'm just in the beginning stages of pixelling and I figured now would be a good time to add some fun objects.  I'm also looking for ideas on what else should be going on in the boy's dream.

General Discussion / Pixelation Portraits, Shhhhhh
« on: September 24, 2006, 06:34:24 am »
I know this is probably like fight club and I shouldn't talk about it, but I'm gonna break the first two rules and post a link to a collection of those portraits floating around Pixelation. If you want yours added to the group just submit it to PJ.

Who kicked this off anyway?

General Discussion / Pixel Artist Interviews (nvision)
« on: June 08, 2006, 04:19:47 pm »
Pixel Joint will now be featuring a new pixel artist on a regular basis (at least that's the idea) featuring some work, an interview and a bio.  For our initial launch randomblink interviewed nvision. Check it!

If you would like to nominate a pixel artist to be featured in the future or if you have any questions you'd like to see asked in future interviews post them here or PM me.  Thanks!

General Discussion / Pixel Joint Leveling Up
« on: March 03, 2006, 04:44:04 pm »
Howdy peeps,

Since a large chunk of the Pixelopolis board also are members of Pixel Joint I wanted to announce the first big membership change... Leveling Up!

Benefits of Leveling Up
As you level up you'll gain the ability to give out more rating points for pixel art and more karma points* for rating other members comments. You'll also get new rank titles for the rank theme you've selected as you move up.

How to Level Up
You go up in rank by accumulating points which you collect by contributing to Pixel Joint. Points can be collected by commenting on pixel art and news, posting pixel art, rating pixel art, posting links and posting news. Contests and having top notch pixel art will also get you special bonus points.

  • Posting Pixel Art = 6 points
  • Submitting News = 5 points
  • Submitting Links = 4 points
  • Posting Comments = 3 points*
  • Rating = 1 point

Why Bother?
Mostly just for fun, but we also want to help newer pieces get exposure in the hall of fame. As more and more people gain rank newer pixel art pieces will have a chance to "catch up" to the point total of older pieces because most people won't take the time to re-rank older pieces. This should help keep the top ranked art a nice mix of fresh work and old favorites. Plus, it's always nice to have more power (feel free to toss your head back and let out a hearty villain laugh).

*KARMA COMING SOON! We plan to put in a reputation/karma system which will allow members to give points to a person if their comment is insightful and subtract points if their comment is off topic or spam. To prevent abuse of the karma system, points will not directly change the point total for another member. Admins will use the karma system to keep an eye out for how members are doing. This will make it easy to distribute awards and kudos to stellar members and point zaps and bans to members who are abusing the system.

Pixel Art / Sex Farm
« on: November 22, 2005, 04:43:45 pm »
I'm going to put some effort into finetuning pieces rather than just being a lazy sob cranking out sketchy stuff. I was pretty happy with this one at first, but the longer I look at it the more I think I need to put in some editing.

Alex and Brian the Great already pointed out a couple flaws on this one (no hair contrast, breast is all out of whack). I'm open to color changes, bg suggestions or anything else although I want to keep the red light district flavor. It's currently at 15 colors and I want to keep it around that range if possible. Thx.
