Pixel Art / Re: Grass tiles.

once again, eliminate the shadows behind that first hedge of grass and it should look fine, as it is now it's like a cardboard cut-out almost.

Pixel Art / [WIP][C+C] Isometric RTS Tiles v4

Latest UPDATE: made rocks a bit more angular, less shiny and added grid per request.

I'm coming back here after a long hiatus.  I'm creating a 2D RTS in isometric perspective.  I've created this starter tileset that is to be the template as I add details, tiles are for water, grass, land and plateaus/cliffs.
Let me know what you think, if there are any errors or something I overlooked, then I'll start adding details and shading and the like.
(I'm also looking for a programmer/and or good engine to make this in since the last one didn't pan out.)

Thanks,

Xan

I would completely change the shadow under the grass to the next lighter brown color, the shadow contrast is too stark IMHO.

I am in love with the styling of these characters and your color choices as well...bravo!

Pixel Art / Re: Alien walking animation (grey)

well for starters yes, add some more frames, look at how a human would walk as this character is humanoid, a human walks by lifting his knees and placing a foot forwards, bending his other foot and when the other one is one the ground lifting this one and preforming the same action so attempt to recreate this in your image by adding some transition frames between each leg being forward

I guess I'm confused about how to make it look like he is picking up his feet from a front perspective. Side would be much easier. I'm going to study some examples and see if I can't figure it out.

Thanks,

Ian

EDIT: let me know of any references you have, I am having trouble finding them for front walking.

Pixel Art / Alien walking animation (grey)

Hey guys,

This is my old stomping ground but haven't been on in about a year  :(.  I could lose so many hours just staring at art on here.  Anyway, my latest foray has been into the animation world. I'm not very strong at animation as a matter of fact this is like my 2nd or third walking character ever.

I need some help with this guy, I know I'm missing some key frames but not sure what they should be  ???. I tried to make his whole body get into the walk but as I said, I'm new at this. Crits and help appreciated.  I have to have this guy done by Saturday so hopefully I'll get some input before then. Thanks a lot everyone!  ;D

I know quite a few of you dabble in 3d art modelling as well as pixel art.  For those that do, which forums do you frequent or recommend and why?

Any other tips for someone wanting to learn 3d modelling.  I have 3Ds Max 5 just so you know, so a 3ds Max specific forum is most likely what I'm  looking for.
Here's to hoping this post doesn't get neglected completely. Thanks for your input!

I  hope this is an improvement...

by the way I didn't change the male because his waist is actually under that tunic or whatever you call it, so I think the legs are the right length.
Crits please.

I'm working on this class male and female, I'm not sure the female is as good however.
On this one I tried to lengthen the arms and changed the shadow color as was suggested. I believe the arms should come to waist level.
Also,  to Conexion, what specifically looks like it needs more contrast? the tiles, people? both? clothing, face? I'd like to know.
I will repost the others with changes soon.

Crits please, I'd like to make these better. I struggle with the iso perspective still. And color choice.

There are 2 seperate characters here and the grass tiles of course.
