Pixel Art / [WIP] Face
« on: December 29, 2007, 05:08:22 am »
I was browsing through the forum a while back and someone had posted a palette for people to use. I had used the palette in this picture, but I forgot who it belonged to. So if anyone knows where this came from, please tell me so I can give credit. And I'll gladly change it if it wasn't for me to use.

So about the face. You can ignore the eyebrows for now because they are just place holders. I'm guessing a lot of you will ask why the eyelids are so big, but that's just something I like to do. What I'm really looking for is help on the hair.

I think it turned out pretty great. The leg looks a lot better now. Well good job, and good luck with the competition.

It's looking good so far, but there is one thing that is sticking out for me. His right leg (our left) seems very flat compared to the rest of the body. Maybe it'd really look like that under the light conditions, but it just looked a little strange to me. Besides that though, great job so far. Keep it up.

I tried to touch on what everyone said. I also slightly upped the contrast on the man, but I'm not sure if that helped any.

I wanted to come back to this picture and start working on it again. So once again, critique is welcome.

Thanks for all of the suggestions and comments everyone. I took what everyone said into consideration and edited it once again. I decided to change the arms around after reading what sharprm said. I think they look better but I still don't think I did them correctly.

Thanks for the suggestion. I added more contrast before the skin tones and started coloring the pants.

Edit: I've updated it a bit more. I decided to make the pants into shorts and I've also redone the shoes.

Pixel Art / [WIP] Farmer - UPDATED
« on: November 09, 2007, 12:40:49 pm »
This is my latest piece I've started on. It's my first go at pixeling an actual person at this scale. Right now it's very rough, but what I'm hoping to get some help on is the anatomy since I am far from perfect at it. At the moment his arms look like rubber and I tried hard to make the hands look good but this is all I could come up with. So here it is. Feel free to throw out your comments bad or good. Thanks in advance : ).

No offense Malor, but I personally liked the original hair color a little more. But this is coming along very nicely. Maybe if the glow sort of connected with the other glow it would look better. I'll try and do an edit if I have time soon since it is hard to explain.

I don't have much advice to give but I thought I'd like to say that I support philipptr's idea of lightrays in the water. Besides it looking more atmospheric, any light ray when done properly makes the enviroment look so much better in my opinion. Overall though, excellent job. The rocks were done so extremely well. I hope you don't mind, but I actually was inspired by your mockup to practice a few of my own.
