Woooow I never thought I would see this come up again. I really appreciate you're on top of it Atnas.

It was certainly the last time I was ever fooled by anyone. That money was meant to fund my Cambridge MPhil. Anyone who messes with a student's tuition fees should be highly, highly ashamed of themselves.

Wow, you're a critique king!
Thank you.

So, I've been practicing:

Ok, so I tried applying the ellipses to the pipes I currently have. I am taking this in baby-steps if that's ok because I am still trying to get the hang of it.
So for now, two questions: 1. how do you know your ellipse is shaped properly? and 2. any advise on getting the shading on it right?

And thank you for the brilliant help.

ErekT: that's odd, it works fine for me.

Lorath: wow that is incredibly helpful. I really appreciate it! Although you definitely make it look easier than it seems - I've been trying for half an hour now and I just can't seem to apply your technique to the pipes in my image.

Pixel Art / Lightbot (start screen WIP)

Hi everyone,

I haven't posted here in a long time! I was hoping I could get some critique on a start screen I am working on, before I spend any more time on it.
Mainly I am interested in getting the lighting right, but also the general technique - I don't usually work this big, nor in any sort of perspective like this, so I can use a few hints and tips! I have been working on the two pipes on the left so far to give an idea of what direction I am going in.

Hi,

I'm sorry to say I'm way too busy to apply, but I wanted to respond anyway to tell you the project looks great; I love the art and attention to detail that is visible so far.

Hi,

The art you posted looks great, but I don't think any artist capable of doing such quality art is willing to gamble 10 hours. You may want to adjust that demand. It should be you taking the risk rather than the artist. At least shorten the trial period to 1 hour in that case; I know I am capable of producing something small, nice and usable in 1 hour so I am sure others could too.

I like the round example Ichigo, it looks much clearer that way.
