What a great improvement! This one has so much more personality, and it grabs me so much more.

Mmm, that doesn't look much like a clock, where are numbers and hands? : o is it 'cause it's WIP?  :-[

Yes :) It's a very WIP clock. Most of the graphics are quite WIP. I'm gonna take your advice and AA the eye guy.

I see you talk about a clock but, where's the clock? : ?

And yes, the enemy sprites could use some work..

The rats are almost invisible on that dark background, and the eye is so messy!

Dude, the clock is in the 3rd screenshot. Thanks for your other input, though.

i used a variation of Arnes 16 color palette
just looking for some feedback

I find that palette sort of offensive as someone whose skin isn't "skin" colored according to it. I know that's kinda lame, but seriously. Think about how many black or non-white characters there are in video games.

Well I'm fairly new at this Pixel Art thing too, but I can tell you right off that your colors are way too bright/saturated it looks like your using MS Paint's color palette.  There are some really helpful topics here that discuss the finer points of proper color selection and palette choice. :)

Thanks for the advice, but I'm using the NES palette and picked it specifically for that reason.

The walk animation is definitely terrible lol...I would suggest looking up some simple walk animation tutorials.  There is a good one here on the forums http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/index.php?topic=12983.0

Yeah, thanks for the link

Looks very promising. I really like the way you've used the sky offwhite color to outline the buildings. It's a cool effect.

That's a hilarious idea for an RPG  ;D! One thing I would point out is that right now she's wearing a magic flower that floats at the left side of her head and never moves.

I don't really like the pig much, it's shading is harsh and I don't care for black outlines. Stick with the awesome style you have for the girl and don't use black outlines.

I enjoy the cave area thing. The way you created atmosphere and "glow" by using background tiles is really cool and the environment itself looks promising.

The bunny silo thing coul use some improvement. For one, its animation isn't as smooth as I'd like to see. Also, you could make better use of color I think, it's pretty low contrast (and has black outlines again X| )

Pixel Art / The Black Clock ? Game I'm working on
« on: August 19, 2011, 06:00:41 am »
Hey everyone, I'm working on a game in Game Maker to be release on the Mac app store and for free on the internet to PC and Mac. It's heavily inspired by NES graphics (and I'm using the NES palette) but I don't have any color limitations and its very high res. Most sprites are 72x72.

You can download an early demo at thesickpixel.com/theblackclock
but here are my sprites. I'd greatly appreciate some advice and stuff. You guys always do very inspiring work. I'm having a lot of trouble with the clock especially, and I think the enemy sprites could use some work.
