Pixel Art / Re: Tsu-Moe

Nice character!
There was something that was really bugging me...

His crotch looked too flat, maybe I rounded it too much, but you got the idea (whoa, looking now, that would be way TOO virile :o).
I also think the hair is getting too much of attention, it's really dark. I agree that there could be a focus point, by I think you could make his face be it :)

The challenge is about pixeling "a scene as seen from a high vantage point". But if those are really clouds, then I agree with Dusty. You'll have to change the impression.

I thought you were going for the alien ship idea...

I don't see any perspective issues, not for now anyway. In your case, I think it's just a matter of how to leave an impression of distance and "greatness" of what I think is going to be the tower.

Pixel Art / Ice climber
« on: August 26, 2008, 06:28:41 am »
So I'm making this little game about Ice climbing, and came up with this character for a while:

I've been using him as a model, making all the animations so far. But his time to be changed has arrived, and I ask your help with it.
See, the game's direction was set to be a game full of tension, pacience and concentration. Not terror, just tension. The music and backgrounds are in this context, but the Ice Climber... Well, he looks like your average platformer  :-\

I'm stuck on how making him more "serious". Pallete change? Anatomy? Clothing? Any tips or edits or whatever are really, REALLY welcome.

Oh... Due to coding and time issues, I can't change his height nor width too much though.

General Discussion / Re: Pixel Art Show

Are you actually going to name the "winners" for the show? Or at least who made it to the gallery? Because I'm geographically unable to see the gallery (though I'd love to) and my only hopes are pictures from it, that may not display all the works  :(

Oh, and btw, I got your answer. Thanks!

General Discussion / CaveDays - Pixel Art Feedback!
« on: February 19, 2007, 09:47:04 pm »
ptoing said to post here, so I guess it's OK... XP

The company I work on has just finished its very first "serious" game. And all the graphics from it is my work. Pixel Art, of course.

I need feedback on my pixel work for this game, so I'd appreciate if you comment and critique it. It's true I can't change the graphics on it anymore, but I wish this feedback for personal use, on future works (professional or not... Maybe a "CaveDays 2"...).
If you feel like commenting the game itself, feel free to do it. And if you feel like editing something from the sprites, please, do it  ;D

I cannot post any screenshot, sheet, animation or mockup here, just the download. So I ask you this favor: download, play and then, comment it.
The links are here:

Mac users (second mirror): http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/games/action_adventure/cavedays.html

You may be thinking "this guy has just entered and is spamming!!!1"... Well, I've been quite active on Pixel Joint and was keeping track of here for a long time, but never had that chance to post here. Maybe now I'll begin to frequent Pixelation too  :)
Also, as I said before, the only thing I can post is the game download.

Thanks again!
