Its very heavily dithered, too heavily dithered, making it look too grainy. I would try using smoother blocks of colour with a few more colours for AA to smoothen the image. I think you could do away with at least 1 of the blues you are using, probably 2 or 3 even. You could probably do away with that black in his eyes (is it black?) and replace it with the dark brown, or the very dark blue (which I probably wouldn't keep in there actually).

Besides that the lineart is quite nice.

the problem you've got here is that your 45 is a heck of a lot bigger than your 90 by comparisson.  I suggest taking the 90, rotating it 45 degrees, and then doing a clean sprite over the jumbled one (it will come out jumbled).  thats the simplest method i know of.

I agree, this is definately the way to go. It's what I always do; you're garrenteed to have things in proportion.

Hmmm *mulls over it*. You know, I got so caught up in the technique of it all I didn't even consider getting ref pics, haha. And how could I forget craters? *shakes head*. Looks like this is going to need a big rework.

As for the purple shadows, theres a purplish nebula nearby  ;)

So with the resurrection of the game project I was working on quite some time ago, I've been looking over some of the graphics I did and noticing some improvements I can make. The asteroids caught my eye straight away, and I've set about improving the large one, here's what I've got:

Nice design, shorts and thongs... just need a BBQ, hehe ;). I also think the size of his head is fine!

Hehe yeah its a sprite of my mate brett, he's always got the wife-beater and thongs thing going.

First thing that came to mind were the legs. The top part of the leg is supposed to be ither longer or as long as the bottom. Also, hes left leg is a bit off the ground.



I lengthened the legs and shifted his left leg, seems to look a fair bit better.  :)

First off, hello everyone! I'm a pixelopolis newbie, rearing my head. Spent some fond times at ye old pixelation, thought it was about time I head on over to here.

Yes, fighter sprite, been inspired by the influx of all of them of late, so I've started giving one a crack, following the SpriteArt tutorial, here's what I've got so far:



It's giving me bad vibes, the stance and legs, what do you think?

I agree with Xion Night about the contrast, for sure. But there a few weird details in Helm's edit...I can't really find much to point out in the original piece that hasn't been pointed out in Helm's edit really, and the original is still quite good anyway  :)
