General Discussion / 3D Modeling & Pixeling

I was wondering. Anyone have any good links on how to use 3Ds Max? I just got it and am very curious about how to use it with Photoshop to add effects and such.

Here's a bit of an edit on the shirt to give it a nice highlight I think it looks a bit better.

Thanks everyone for the crits. And here's a NEW edit. I tried to go more in the direction Phillip was going in.  :)

I think it's looking better.

So Sherman you're suggesting to add more shades or use the existing shades back to back to leave no open spaces?  ???

Not really sure as to how I should shade it otherwise?  :(

Thanks for the crits. I'm much more satisfied about how this is going now. And Crow 128x64 is just as hot as anything else.  :'(

Ok, thanks. I'll try a darker green. And the sun isn't going to be in the final copy. I just drew it to get an idea of where I want my light sorurce to be. But, everything you've all said was very helpful. I'm at school right now and I'll edit it when I get home.  ;D

Ok, dudes. I'm making a little spring scene and I'm completely botched. It looks really jacked up to me and disturbing. So crit it very hard.

PLEASE!  :'(

Grass can not be painted by selecting 2-4 values of pure green and then randomly spraying until the distribution seems even.  This is basically white noise, snowstorm, ant race, whatever you call it when the channel isn't coming in.  It has no logic, no order, and thus conveys no information.  I recommend starting over and painting some grass.  You may as well start with the classic:

Recognize #3? ;)  Grass has structure and logic and a wide variety of interesting colors and hues.  Learn them and use them!

Ah, I've read this tutorial before and I clearly understand what you're saying. But, I didn't randomly spray. I placed each pixel by hand. I also tried to do it by working from the inside out. In a sense.
