you need to remove the outline.

What.

Outlines do not necessarily result in a very cartoonish style. Also what makes you think he is not aiming for the style he currently is using?
I think theres nothing wrong with this outline as it doesnt distract from the rest at all and we dont know what background this sprite is thought to be shown on.

Thanks Atnas.

I threw away of the watch for the main menu and instead tried a portrait of the protagonist, who will raise his hat when the game is about to start:

Having much trouble with the hand, any tips?

Also I made a very quick draft version of the first level which will lead the player into the temple in which the main story will play:

and i didnt pillowshade, i was more trying to say the light source was coming from the top ;)

Well, that's pretty much the same thing. Therefore "pillowshading" isnt necessarily unrealistic, but seems so because a lightsource is rarely at the same (or almost the same) place as the viewer is.

Lazy quick edit incomming.

I just want to know, does this solve the problems? Don't really like the background without any highlights, and I dont think that these would create any readability problems in the game. (I mean foreground/background issues, I'm still not sure whether one can read them as columns without problems)

I dont get what you're trying to achieve. is the blob made of various tiles, so that you have border tiles and a filling tile (the one you've posted)? Are you sure the things you ask for concern pixelart? because right now you cont have any pixel art involved.
Is it a green highlight on a grey thing?  ???

Sorry but I just don't get it.

Photoshop is seriously desaturating my .png files. Does anyone know how to fix this?
The only thing photoshop might do is save them with the colourprofile you're working with which the rest of the applications you view your images in doesnt support.
Use "Convert to Profile" select sRGB as profile and don't uncheck dither. That should solve your problems

Slightly updated version:

Should I stick with the new tiles?

Why don't you monitor my posts here and find out for yourself?

When viewing this thread, the thread "Hooded Guy" and the thread "(WIP) Computer Monitor" it seems like you've aborted 2 out of three pieces after getting a single answer, which doesn't make much sense considering that the aim of pixelation is giving and taking critique rather than just posting 5 minute sketches and then saying "oh I don't care, I moved on already" when someone throws in critique ;)

Thanks for the comments.

Made this edit after studying arachnes ega mockup. To me it seems to look better but I'm still not sure. Any c+c on the new tileset?
Also Monaze I'm not sure if I understand what you mean. If you want to make an edit, feel free to so ;)
