Pixel Art / Forest Tiles
« on: October 14, 2013, 08:15:11 pm »
This is my first foray into a more detailed tileset. Never really attempted a tree before so I hope my first proper try is alright. Everything is obviously inspired by beetlekings work which was constantly used as reference; I still tried to make mine have a slightly different (hopefully softer) style.

All the sprite-work is finished (except from your guys' critique) but the scene as a whole is entirely WIP. I've not even got a layout.

Pixel Art / Vacation game assets [Need help with character sprite!]
« on: April 10, 2013, 08:47:22 pm »
I have decided to delve into another mockup frenzy! This time I went for something out of my ordinary and decided to pixel a tree (oooh, aaah) and an actual character sprite. The tree is still WIP so help there would be great and the sprite is extremely WIP: i have no idea whatsoever on what to do with him.

How it will most likely be viewed:

Pixel Art / New Mockup (Yes another) WIP
« on: December 19, 2012, 08:52:53 pm »
My laptop got completely wiped of everything, including all my millions of WIP mockups. I saw this not as a burden, but as a sign from the pixel gods to take everything I like out of my old mockups and make a new one with all those things, also....finish it!

Here is what I have so far, all subject to change. I really want to make things seem more 3D and "shiny" but cant fathom how without it looking odd.

General Discussion / Isometric is killing me ._.
« on: October 21, 2012, 11:08:42 am »
I recently wanted to venture into making isometric, 3D cube tiles for another just-for-fun mockup, but even making a sim ple isometric cube is difficult to me! I aleways try and it looks wrog, i'm not even sure of what measurements I need. Does the cube have to fit in a 16x square if I want them to be 16x tiles? I'm really jsut lost and I can't seem to find any tutorials at all in specifics to tilesets. :S

Pixel Art / imnumberfours game mockup thread. [C&C wanted]
« on: September 30, 2012, 08:38:25 pm »
I really enjoy making mockups, but get halfway through because I never know what to add to them/how to do sprites! I didn't think I should have a thread for all of them, so I made a big collection of them. :)

Most are WIP's

(needs more colour variety)

General Discussion / Thoughts on Minecraft texture packs as pixel art?
« on: August 20, 2012, 06:57:05 pm »
I'm really in to making texture packs for minecraft (Never finish them but tend to make a lot of textures) and, suprisingly, I didn't even know that pixel art existed! I always used filters and what-not to make packs for minecraft, but pixel art stole my heart and I changed my way. Now, the real reason I made this topic was to ask; Do you think it deserves to be posted on this forum? Do you feel it really counts as "pixel art" (I have seen many a people say they don't)? Do you think that when viewing textures in minecraft it's worth making them pixel art?

I think that if you utlize pixel art techniques whilst making the textures, the pack tends to look better. However that's just my opinion, and I want to gather more.

Here's some examples of my textures, in-case you wanted to see and ,If you don't know what minecraft  is, to show you examples:

This one I tried to use 3 colours epr texture, however some required to have up to 6.

This one I was far more generous with colours, but I liked the end result :)

None of the textures above tile because I made them in a livestream and didnt want to bore people by tweaking them. :)

(Is there a type of code simillar to a "
" code on here?)

Pixel Art / Cute scene. :3
« on: July 29, 2012, 05:54:54 pm »

What started out as my first tree, which then evolved into a few bits and bobs which became my avatar on some sites has now turned into a small scene.

Pallet (11 colours):

I wanted it to look like soemthing that came out of a quaint RPG, but I didnt want to make tiles because I am going to try and texture the ground as a whole, not repeat tiles.

Things I think are bad:

The duck *cringe*. Could not get it into the perspective or look good.
Perspective: Is everything alright?
Composition: Trying to steer it clear from a lot of random elements thrown into a scene.

It is obviously highly WIP, and I want C&C as well as what to add to it. :)

Pixel Art / [WIP] The dead will walk
« on: June 16, 2012, 07:01:18 pm »
I decided to try something other than a tileset and worked my way towards this, a sort of game screen (truth be told I dont know what its is...).

PixelJoint proved to be too distracted on other threads, so I decided i'd try to ask fro C&C in the lovely community of Pixelation!

Heres the work so far:

this was how it started:

and this is the current one:

Dont be afraid to completely tear it apart!

Pixel Art / Nightmares awake [emerging from the depths]
« on: June 03, 2012, 11:36:57 pm »
Finally decided to make something other than minecraft textures!cHere goes!  ;D

Best viewed after clicking 2-3 times.

I really want C&C on most things; composition, pallet and general form.

This is a very short post as I am very tired and it's past midnight  :y:

Thanks :3

Pixel Art / WIP tileset (needs tons of c&c!)
« on: April 08, 2012, 01:25:46 pm »
Theres not much to say about this, apart from the fact that I am looking for C&C about my new tileset. I'd lovee for it to be a game, but cant ever find programmers!

I think every tile has 5 colours, apart from transitioning tiles, as they have 10(?)
