Hey, my name is Alexey Garkushin, I'm a freelance pixel artist, working with clients since 2005.

Here are some big recent projects I've been working on:

Pixel Art / Underwater series

Just 2 recent works made for PixelJoint challenges. Probably you've seen them but I'll describe for those who not.



Forestalling the questions mine is the second :) An image based on Natalie's drawing (some random kid art found in internet). Steps could be found here. 31 color.

And the most recent piece made several days ago, Atlantis:



There were several negative comments regarding the palette of the last one and I'm looking for help on this. While I was working on it the palette had been changed several times and I ended up with this one.

Too bad it was inspired by the other piece, I was not able to get the result I like myself.

If you could improve the palette and tell me how and why you chose that colors that would be just awesome. Thanks in advance.

Known issue: there are 2 almost identical colors in the palette. Kept just so I had a 16th free color :)

A fantasy stamp for PixelStamps. Made to test counting total stamps and last site update info scripts and to kick some lazy asses to finally join the project :)

Ignore a strangely placed number, it's dynamic and I hope it to turn into 2 digits.

This guy supposed to be a card for a Russian CCG but the anatomy was seriously off and I couldn't improve it. Now that I turned it into pixels he doesn't seem so wrong to me. Anyway edits and crits would be awesome.

General Discussion / Hue/saturation adj. unsensitive palette.

Are you familiar with a palette that will work fine for any hue saturation adjustment? I mean you pixelate something and by adjusting hue/saturation you can get that in all colors of rainbow and it still will look fine. Is it possible?

I suppose no since if you add some cyan for highlights to blue it will not work as a highlight if you adjust hue... But who knows, maybe there's a way... Using gradient from some to color to white doesn't work also.

But it seems to me some developers were using this trick...

Let me know what you know please.

That's the 3rd edit already and most definitely I will not edit it anymore (who knows though). But I'll keep your crits in my mind for the future.



It took me 20 hours, lots of colors :) I have a special ability not to care about color limits if none cares. It's ok to hate me for that.
