Pixel Art / Re: [WIP] Little man

Does it float in the air like a ghost or is the robe touching ground, hiding feet? Place a shadow underneath to indicate the distance from the ground.

The face in itself is quite nice, but the blobby neck makes it kinda hard to picture what the body under the robe is like. It's essential at least for the creator to know what's under the robe, in order to make some sense of the whole thing. The right shoulder is missing..? I'd also introduce some other colours in the palette, now it's just shades of brown.

Alright, here's my edit. I haven't been working on this sort of a restricted palette in ages, and the last time I did, I didn't know much about colour theories. Say, 10 years ago.

Yey! It's looking much better! :D Good points about the shoulders, I was kind of wondering if they're wide enough, this proves they weren't. Nice detailing in the hair, I can see that it really needed it and adding green to the shadows in his face was a clever touch. And the sword merges nicely with the sun, losing the outline made it look much sharper. Thanks a lot! :)

I'll post my improved version tomorrow.

Hmm.. If he straightens his right arm then it'll be twice as long as the left arm.. in other words, the left arm is too short.

This is an image relating to a game that I'm working on. 8 colours. This is as good as I'm able to do myself, any ideas how to improve it?

Pixel Art / Re: [WIP] Big fire

It might be helpful to study this old "Pic of the month" on a cover disk of Amiga Format #25 by "Opus". Campfire as a light source is of course not as sharp and bright as sun, but a fire that big is still bound to create a halo ( and wisps of smoke and sparkles) around itself, illuminating the surroundings also. Building a pixel halo is a hell of a task, but will look impressive.

Awesome stuff. :)

Are those gems/diamonds in the cave wall? You could make them be a more solid part of the stone structure, sticking out or growing out of the rock, like in this one. Now it looks more like splattered paint.

Hi! I'm new here and I've been fooling around with pixels since I had a DP2 on Amiga 500. Location: Helsinki, Finland.

I work in a mobile game company, occasionally working as a freelance illustrator/consept designer/storyboard artist for movies and TV commercials.

If I accidentally happen to have some free time, I spend that by drawing web comics: The Broken Mirror, Between two Worlds, Desert Rocks, or doodle and post stuff on my Da page.

Nice one. How about adding some more 2-3 pixel sized birds in the sky? It would emphasize the fact of it being a sky and would also tie the bird as an element more tightly into the scene.
