General Discussion / Re: Casual Pixel Art Encounters

A good general rule of thumb for this thread would be to not post more than one or two pictures per post

Except.. wouldn't this be a good thread for posting dumps of finished pixel art that you want to show off but can't alter anymore?

Lot's of RPG sprites and stuff on the forum as always, but has there ever been a game that's been made using some sort of an RPG creation program that's worth paying money for? (Or has in fact made some money?) I don't follow this scene but love RPGs so I wanna know..  If there is one I wanna try it out.

Don't forget to work on the bg as well. Backgrounds that have that "oh crap, I guess need to draw a background as well.." -feel to them annoy me big time. That doesn't mean it needs to be sharp and in focus, full of tiny detail, but just.. try to avoid it looking sloppy compared to the foreground.

She doesn't look 17 -years old. The cheekbones, the fully developed hips, the wide shoulders..

I also think I've got some contrast issues as well.

The dark bg feels more contrasty (even though it may not be), so it looks a bit like the lighter tile areas are seen through a hole cut through the dark area.

Jad: Great atmosphere. The first pic really has the feeling of a cold winter day... like minus 15C at least. The second pic suffers from the lack of a reference point for scale. Is the conrete wall on the foreground half a meter or four meters tall?

I agree. I got my current full time job through a recommendation of a guy I knew on a comic art board. When I was a freelance (non-pixel art) illustrator for a couple of years most of my job offers came via friends I'd studied with or people I knew on the comic forums. It was like 60% good contacts, 40% skill. Building up a reputation for never missing a deadline also helps.
