thanks all  :D

vedsten:
f. great! that haunted swamp is :y: :y: :y:, vivid colors, top design (espc. the trees) and lovely creatures. What really does it for me though is, that everytime i see one of your mockups i can picture the actual game and wanna play it
thanks, im glad you think that.
that's the thing i aim for : )

Xion Night:
yeah, it looks like i placed the layer with the water ripples above the tree layer, its an easy fix.

faceless:
yeah i think you are right, might need to have a look at the dudes legs and shadow again.

Pixel Art / Re: Style Study :: Kenneth Fejer
« on: August 04, 2006, 10:50:56 pm »
wow I'm honored that someone would bother to study my pixeling style :) to be honest, i haven't really thought about how i do things, but i think you nailed it pretty accurately.
love the mockup :D even with the "gradient"  ::) bg ;)

if i had to add anything to what you've already written, it would be that i try not to use 100% white either(sometimes theres no way around it though) i always add a little bit of yellow, since I'm not a big fan of too many "pure" colors, if you know what i mean.

oh and i never use dither, its the devil!

anyway, love the mockup Dan,  looks really cool.
now go make it into a game, so i can play it ;)

Pixel Art / Re: Densetsu no Docuchu - Guardian of the star portal
« on: July 18, 2006, 05:06:20 pm »
hey, thanks for the comments :)

yeah its called "legend of docuchu" and "guardian of the star portal" is the subtitle.
doesn't really matter though, i just made the name up as i was posting the image ;)

i think im renaming him "Dokuchu" though, its probably more correct, like Andy Tran pointed out.

snake:
gradient? that is quite an insult! ;) nah, but its a cloud image i drew ages ago in open canvas, i use it in 9 out of 10 of my mockups ;) too lazy to draw a new one.
i totally agree, the hills in the bg are a bit dull, im just to lazy to shade them :)

yes its just a mockup, it will never materialize into a real game. T_T

General Discussion / Re: The Future Of Pixel Art
« on: June 22, 2006, 09:45:22 pm »
i doubt pixelart will disappear anytime soon.
when developing for mobile phones, you're not just developing for 1 device, but rather 200+ and all with different specs (processing power, screensizes and so on)
so even if the new nokia or sony ericsson phones gets a nvidia 3d chip, most people will still have an old crappy phone without the 3d capability.
so until the 3d chips(or huge screen resolutions (VGA)) are the mainstream, there will still be enough work for pixelartists.

love it.
hmm yea, the tree looks a bit out of place, its much more detailed then the rest of the mockup, but other then that, i really cant put my finger on something. looks great! :D

General Discussion / Re: Official Pixelopolis Off-Topic Thread

picked up the new EDGE magazine today and found the url to this site http://www.nesreproductions.com/
how cool is this :D

not in the sense that you can copy commercial roms onto the cartridges, but in the sense that you can make homebrew stuff and actually play it on the console.
i've always wanted to make a NES platformer, i think i need to find me a coder, who wants to do a small project.

TakaM :
cool mockup btw ;)
