2D & 3D / Re: Blocky the Thug

Thanks, and yeah I agree that the nose and some other details could be improved by adding very little if any polygons. I'll make some improvements and post them soon! Here is the wire-frame. Thanks a ton for the suggestions :)

Decided to start doing some low-poly 3D work. . . this is my first real try at, so any good critique is much appreciated. Thanks!

Awesome stuff! Good to hear, I'll need to play with that myself :) And I should have clarified - I meant the shadows cast by the spider-bot guys.

Brilliant work. I love how cohesive it all feels, and the style is wonderful. I must ask, how do you keep the render colors so consistent? I use Cinema 4D myself, but have had the same troubles in my experience with 3DMax. I find I can either shade the models by hand without lighting, or use a standard light and get a million shades.

Great work though. Have you considered maybe making the shadows have a ting of blue to complement all of the orange going on?

Pixel Art / Turtle Bubble!

This is for the weekly competition at Pixel Joint :) If you have time, I suggest submitting something, the bubble theme is very interesting to work with!

Anyways, here is the sketch I have thus far. If you notice any eye-sores sticking out or have any suggestions thus far, please let me know!

Scene: Turtle (Lets name him... Stevie!) is off looking for food when he hears a funny noise in the distance. Curious, he slowly walks toward the sound, when he finds a waterfall shooting bubbles out of the water! One drifts toward him as he stares curiously at his own reflection in the mysterious floating sphere. This is set moments before poor Stevie has the bubble pop in his face!

Personal Goal: 8 colors max instead of 20 allowed.

Side-note: I do know the bubble looks like an eyeball thus far :D It will be come clear it is his face soon!

Thanks!

edit:: Ooo, forgot to add links to the inspiration!

Funny turtle, but I liked the angle!

The stomach would probably move a bit more than that. What's bothering me even more is that the head seems to be moving left and right, but not the beak.  :0

Oh, and there are a few jaggies in some of your frames, but it seems like just a few quick fixes. :D

Hopefully this update improved on those things a bit!

Still 10 Colors :)

Looks pretty good, but the stomach looks like it just stays still.

So something like this? :)

edit: Or maybe:

Alright, and here is the full sprite 'sheet' (Not that it is really a large sheet yet). I'm going to work on some extra tiles next to get a small scene down.

Well you have made really good progress, although I will agree that the last one looks washed out, even for a white background. I love how you do the shapes in the trees though, especially the blocking at the end. On the last one, maybe adding a nice highlight color that would work for both the trunk and the leaves such as a light-low-saturation purple might be a good touch :). Good progress though! I should make a little time-line like this :P
