Strange, I have a Intel Mac too, MacBook , 2.16GHz, OS 10.4.10. Where do you have problems? Just installing (and running) DosBox or mounting c: or running gfx2b?

I'm new to Mac (OSX) since a few days and I tried Pixen, too. But my mouse control was very strange and the palette function is very counterintuitive. But a few minutes ago I tried DosBox for OsX and Grafx2b, works perfectly (in fullscreenmodus). Give it a try. It has no tile features (as far as i know), but the palette feature is quite cool (except that you can't use HSV color model).

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/dosbox/DOSBox-0.72_Universal.dmg.zip?download
http://pixel.scene.org/download/gfx2b965.zip

Copy both Folders into 'Applications', then you run Dosbox and a 'Z:' prompt shows up. Press [ALT]+[RETURN] (Fullscreen) type 'mount c: /applications/', type 'c:', type 'cd gfx2b' (or whatever your gfx2b folder is called) and type 'gfx2'. When you quit gfx2b, the dos prompt shows back. type 'exit' to finish your adventure ;)

If there's a Linux Version of DosBox ( http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/download.php?main=1 ), you could try do run it with Grafx2b (D/P ? -PaintClone).

A friend of mine uses WINE to run ProMotion, works perfectly when using the commercial version (wine), he told me.

Advance Wars: Days of Ruin

Well, some more screenshots (jpg :mean:)

I don't get it. Is this prerendered stuff and a ugly black outline or just poorly pixeled? I'm not a big fan of the overdetailed, less contrasted, desaturated background as well. Liked the first gba wars game the most, exaggerated and colorful, as it should be  ;)

As far as I know, subpixeling is something different, as this article explains:

http://www.grc.com/ctwhat.htm

This is the basic approach which is used by the new macs to make their fonts smoother (When you have a Mac, use [CTRL]+Scroll-Wheel, and see what happens). With this technique it is possible to adress the displays lightdots an a smaller level than the regular pixels.
What Crow showed is just AA, when I'm correct, cuz he uses the complete nearby Pixels and is not trying to adress the specific lightdots of the screen through pixel manually red/green/blue pixels at the end of the square. I think ptoing or baccaman showed this somwhere in this forum (can't find the thread right now)

Sad, but true!

I think Advance Wars 2 DS goes to a similar way  :(

(Yeah, jpg, but I didn't find anything else)

I think, they call the new style modern/adult/realistic/enlargetargetgroup/makemoremoney/getridofkiddyimage/somewhat..

I'm really interested in getting the old Paintbrush version of windows 3.11. First of nostalgia reasons (it's what I started of with pixeling) and because I remember, that it was possible to save the current palette and load it again later, but maybe it's necessery to install a old windows version and to copy the paintbrush?

Looks like activation emails aren't working. I tried to register a new username, but there was no mail in my inbox, though I let the board resend me the link a couple of times.

I don't think that the postcount /-rank matters (at least not for me). I think it is more that they try to make one's name.

I think the most important part is the content of a message. If it is pure fan-boy-ism like 'OMFG, THIS ROXX' or the opposite 'BHAA, THIS SUKS' then of course one lines should be deleted. But even if there is a long message (a few hundred words) and the content is like the afore mentioned, then it should be deleted as well, wheather it took time to create the message.

The other way round: if a short message contains every aspect like a longer, but not that well phrased message, why should it be deleted? Maybe the emssage sounds a bit harsh, but if the content is the same (and it is possible to get it) why should this be a bad habit? My mother tongue is german and I haven't got many experience in talking english, thus my answers may be phrased more complicated then needed. Maybe a native speaker could formulate it in one sentence where others need a dozen?

Uhm.. I hope I didn't got anything wrong  ???

I used this contol-scheme, because you need to move in 8 directions (and not just 4 like the cursor keys). And of course you're right with the laptop users. I have a different contol-scheme in mind. Maybe I'll code it someday (same as smooth movement), but now I need a bit distance from this project. Thanks for your suggestions.

>bengoshia
Well, I don't agree with you. I think it works fine now. I tried to make the background darker, but it didn't works as I like. But I think I need some distance to this small project now.

>Xion
Thanks, I agree with you. But what do you mean with 'I tend to the garden'? English isn't my mother tongue so maybe it's a joke or something. Sorry for my mental dullness.

>all
Well, since I don't know what I should make better, I call it done now. In a few month I'd like to rework the grahics (and code a bit). By then..
