Post your WIPs for the side view, even if you're not happy yet.. someone might be able to point out something that'll help.

Yea I was, but come to find out I must of never pasted it back to my WIP file and i dont save my GG canvas. So ill work on it again today. But i was wondering if I should make him in an agle or straight foward, i think il make both and decide wat looks best after ward.

Oh nvm HA I remade wat I lost and found the old file so here it is, I need with this one so feel free to edit it.

It depends on what restrictions you're working under. You don't have to keep one palette for an entire city, but rather each of your tiles should function off a specific palette (ie, 4 colors per 8x8 tile or something similar). What are you planning on coding the game in? Flash, or something else?
On byond, it has a 32x32 restriction for each unit, but you can put them together like tiles. The game will be programed on dream maker.

Why waste a good game idea on BYOND..

I want to see how the game idea caches on, if its really good I'll see if can transfer it to Game maker and have alot better sized sprites. But the problem with that is, I want to make it an online game and well I dont know any coders who are willing to do it for free and still be able to make it online.

Pixel Art / D.O.H. [NEW UPDATE 4]

HA As you guys probability remember I was working on a base for my online top down RPG called Dawn Of Heroes, here is a lil summary of it:

Quote
The game’s name is Dawn of Heroes, which in fact should already give you an idea of the theme. It will be programmed on an engine called dream maker, better known as BYOND. It will be graphically similar to a top down/face on view of any common adventure/RP handheld game. The game takes place in the far future, a gloomy corrupt city. At this, in the beginning of the game you are an orphan who always liked the martial arts, and after leaving the care of the foster home you set out to a dojo to learn martial arts. This in term basically serves as a tutorial and an introduction to one of 3 skills, combat. Each player can learn 3 skills or a “power” aside from the first, combat; the other two are a branch of a mental state or a kinesis. There is a variety of which 2 to choose from and you get them by embarking on short story missions.

An example of this would be pyrokinesis, to acquire it the player goes into a story mission on becoming a fireman. On duty an accident happens where you find yourself being able to control fire later on. Of course the story has more depth in the game as this is merely an example. Some powers we may include are Electrokinesis, Geokinesis, Gyrokinesis, Hydrokinesis, Pyrokinesis, Biokinesis, Morphokinesis, and more, each with their own story. The story wraps around a corrupt government and a military general trying to get rid of “parahumen” (players). The game features a karma system where it allows to player to choose his own destiny and missions type. Weather good/evil players can enjoy plenty of boss battles and minigames. There is still a lot untold and you might want to try and ask me questions, at which I will do my best to answer them.

If any of you guys interested in helping just PM me.

For the past couple days I have been working on a base for the game, and here is my WIP

I started out with the one to the far  left and with the help my Aczidenz and Ryumaru I worked my way to the far right, IMO like about 10x better.

And there is an update of a guy in armor. The sword blended in too much so i changed it a bit...

Well here is wat i have so far, one of my first sprite animations:

and here it is Animated:

transforming from normal to Hevy. here is him running, I was kinda proud of this.

So far i am pretty proud of my work, i am aware that i need a color pallet change but i haven't got to that yet, right now am working on the side view which is giving me a good challenge. There is still alot of flaws thats why i posted about it  :P for the help. I was thinking about a color pallet for the city, but i wasn't sure if i HAVE to stick to one pallet for the entire city? Well i don't know help me out guys.

HA I remade wat I lost and found the old file so here it is, I need with this one so feel free to edit it.

I started a mockup for the game. I emulated the style of a couple diferent techniques and made it my own, please....post some C/c or an edit. I need the help  :-[

Added some stuff to the wall, post C/c Ideas, or comments plz.

Well I changed the pallet of the wall to this:

and now am working on an interface based on a windows media player skin.

Here is the title screen, made by one of my friends, its not pixel art but its still awesome. Dont bother to C/c it i know its flaws but it wont get Fixed.

Oh btw i worked my but off making this so please dont steal it, (c) all rights reserved, plus your a jack ass if you do....

I am not in a position where I can buy the book, But I did in fact look at the thread. I learn a couple cool tricks.

  • Define The future most extreme state, then make it flow more gracefully by adding slides and showing the mid steps
  • Use Masses, look at the Masses, Altho I used this I feel more in tune with it and it saves you the trouble of coloring a faulty animation

General Discussion / Good'ol Animation
« on: January 05, 2007, 12:51:00 pm »
I recently started working on a base for an online game, and well when I got to the actual animation, I found myself lost not knowing procedure, I felt like i was in a dark room having to feeling my way around. At the end, looking ar some reference and getting some help from my two buddies Aczidenz and Ryumaru I got by, but I wasn't sure if i did it in an affective manner. Perhaps wat I am really asking is, Is there a set guideline for animation? Do you use the previous state for the next frame? Or do you re construct the entire sprite? Is feeling around until you get it right the "right" way? I would be more then happy with some linkage, but i really want to hear your past experiences and your techniques when animating.

This is by far your best work...at least from what i have seen. But this can use some help, altho I wont be able to tell you how to fix the problem, i can tell you wat the problem is.

The eye is way to big, and the lips are off too. The ear looks odd and the ear ring is out of shape.

Btw great work on the hair.
