also he looks kinda depressed, just sayin

I thought he looked sad too, so I made him angry instead:

Also, a note on the animation: his collar bones are not moving with the upper body.

Alright, new version:

Considering it's basically a trace over, it took pretty long cuz the expression kept looking weird. Please give your C&C (comments and critiques?) :)

Well... his legs suggest he's standing at an angle, so his arms should reflect that too (meaning the other arm should be partially visible). Consequently, his head should turn slightly towards the viewer.

As people said before, his arms look funny. It's hard to tell what directions they are bent toward because the outline and the shading aren't coherent. I like the guy's eyes though--very creepy, if that's what you're going for.

here are two variants of your changes.
I decided to stick with my legs for now.
I removed one pixel on each arm to make them start thin and then get thicker towards the hands, not sure which one I like more.

Now on to the 45°

I wanted to thicken the legs at first, but they looked bent no matter what I try. Perhaps some AA is in order.
Looking forward to seeing your 45° version.

I also made some changes, but didn't see the previous post, so there may be some overlap between our edits.

Basically I straightened the arms, added a row to the crotch area, and changed the colours a bit to increase contrast.

His right eye could be closer to the centre of the face. Maybe round out his jawline a bit (right now there are some obvious angles). Overall the colours could be more vibrant. Finally, what's that stroke of brown above his eyes?

It's hard to nail down what expression you're going for here. At the moment she looks cross eyed, a little in pain and her neck looks broken. It's a severely strained position. She could be being hanged almost!

What sort of expression and emotion are you trying to convey?

The expression of being in severe pain due to being hanged by an invisible rope, obviously
Joking aside, I think I should have started out with a more accurate drawing, so I put together some photos to base my new drawing on:

Will post my result later. Too tired to draw now.

I'm trying to draw an angelic looking girl but not sure if I'm getting the anatomy correct. Excuse the roughness of the drawing; took me quite a while just getting it like this  :-[

Update:

Question for all you pixellers: When you draw from a reference, what steps do you follow to progressively improve your drawing? I haven't figured out an efficient system yet...
