Atnas' edit is really wonderful, but the pose still feels generic. Compare it to something like Lucca:
Was just playing Chrono Trigger again a few months ago. Was totally nerd-crushing over Lucca the whole time. :'D
She had the best sprites in the game, I think. They were all great and full of character, hahah! =)

I actually like the original more than the edits. Not a fan of the color choices in either or the edited pieces...
I do agree the level of detail for the foreground tree is a little too high, though. You could simplify it a bit, in my opinion. The piece overall looks very nice, I think. =)

Are you a fan of BeetleKing's (from this forum) work, by any chance? The cliffs are reminding me strongly of something he posted before, and don't really match the rest of the set, hahah. Or maybe Secret of Mana?:D

I don't think you're plagiarizing. Just wondering how good my eyes are, hahah. =D

but what do people other than my immediate friends think?
I think you copied an extremely popular, but flawed pixel art tutorial to make this. :P
I'd suggest doing some trees by studying from life. You'll learn a lot more. Studying pixel art is good for learning pixel techniques, but you'll pick up any bad habits the artists have, too, if you're just starting out and not looking out for them. The person you copied has a habit of making everything look very flat. Now your tree looks very flat. Google some pictures of real trees. Real life won't lie to you! ;)

These are pretty great, but I'm not sure about the shoulders on the yellow suit. I know what you're trying to go for (we've all played Metroid, hahah!), but it kind of feels like her shoulders have been dislocated and pulled up four inches. :x

I love these in general, though. New animation is looking good. =)

Challenges & Activities / Re: The Daily Sketch

I know we're supposed to post a picture, but I really just wanted to drop in and congratulate wolfenoctis on being a goddamned drawing machine. I'm impressed with how often you stop in here, noctis, especially since a good amount of your "sketches" in here are finished paintings! =)

I'll edit this post with a drawing of my own a little later today. =D

Edit: Switched back to Open Canvas. Test dirt:

One more thing! Your work reminded me of this little mockup I made, so I thought I'd share. I always like getting feedback, too!
You want feedback on a mockup you made over a year ago? You haven't made anything since then? =P

Three seconds on Google would've made your post a little better, hound. Stone wells "inexplicably" have the posts going into the stone all the time. It's like humans have a magical power to break through rock or something. =P

Pixel Art / Re: [C+C] Head movement on run cycle
« on: June 12, 2015, 06:17:44 pm »
The silhouette of the head doesn't change at all in the back, which is making the animation look weird. Like you just mapped a pixel art texture to a sphere, and rotated the sphere, instead of rotating something that's actually head-shaped, hahah.
