i think i made valid points, but strongly colored by personal style tendencies of course. Although i'm not always so sure of the benefits of full blown edits, i'll try and illustrate my suggestions when i get home later, even though it's just a my way of doing things.

A million thumbs up, great improvement! I personally prefer the more conventional palette too, which might not necessarily just be the more linear ramp, but mostly the shift in contrast that went along with it, accounting for a much improved readability. The specks of dark outlines here and there stick out as too harsh a contrast to me and maybe add a little space, talking ~1 pixel here, between the breasts (moving the right breast, her left, out to the right I'd say). Specifics about anatomy I'll leave to the more savvy to point out, should there be something to be pointed out - just the further foot, it strikes me as though her toes were cut off.

Keep it up, definitely was worth starting over  :y:

Overall it's a pretty good start, from this point on it depends what you're going for exactly. Is she supposed to be masculine? Her pose itself works fine, the temperament it conveys suits her character, resolute with a hint of her being some sort of a renegade princess. Obviously she belongs to a very western tradition of portraying heroines, with her tank top, relatively muscular arms, and overall realistic proportions,  all of which suggesting guerrilla field experience and all kinds of strengthses already on the superficial level.

I don't know if you were intent on using her original in-game palette and/or how much of this still is w.i.p., but for a sprite this big I'd suggest a broader range of shades, less saturation as well as a lot less blue overall, a less plasticine like shading-style (I think you can loosen the invasiveness of the darks) and outlines to some extent (plus avoiding such close shades as the dark gray of the skin and the purple of her top next to each other, making them merge almost). Her eyes strike me as lifeless the way they are, kind of like the button-eyed people in coraline. Her feet and ankles could benefit from using references, especially the further leg has a very cylindrical ankle, but no heel and fails to suggest the weight it supports (could be a tad bigger as well, imo).

Cheers, solid start, keep it up!  :)

While she seems to abide the laws of gravity now, the pose itself lost its flow. It's tends a little to what arne calls a flyswatted pose in his tutorial:

The original pose was a nice start in terms of dynamic posture, and it might be a good idea to keep that. Here's an edit addressing that as well as some proportional fix-ups (unfortunately, the volumes of the extremities still don't match in the latest version), but I'm not exactly an authority on anatomy myself.

knight: thanks. the wobble synchs with the outro music of each level (they remain visible, running on to the next stage) as it is, but I'm not sure it's the motion itself that puts you off or something about range of the motion?

they're pretty much final as they are, in terms of detail and shading.

conceit: redd is more energetic in also being simple minded but cheerful. blou is sluggish, brighter and in a way he looks after redd while himself being a bit gloomy, maybe affected by his unfavorable physique - stubby arms, small operating range. There's one feature to each bot that especially draws a difference between the two of them that I'm not going to give away yet.
There are a few animations that mostly define redds personality a little, like the difference here between them when struggling under great weight:

I'll have a look at a more circular movement for redds arms, but as stated above, the current version goes together very well with the audio so far. and i'm already lying in bed, so I'll make and post changes tomorrow after work :)

Here's a little explanatory-ish something for the dance too:

personally, instead of having the red base obscure parts of the center, i would take the liberty and not have the bases face each other, but make the connectin bridge turn 90 degrees at the center so that the red base would be left to the blue one, seen from the front as well. From a gamedesign standpoint at least this would make more sense, balancewise. Not that you ever said this was your intention :)

So my brother and I have been working on a personal game project again for the last two months and while we're progressing nicely, I figured I should get a few opinions from you guys and gals as I'm not always entirely happy. For now I'm just posting some of the character animations and will leave you guessing as to what the game's actually about. Background's all just placeholders for now and won't be exclusively pixel art, so I'll leave that out for the time being as well.

I'll be glad to answer any questions if you don't know what to make of them :) Here's a first few, I'll keep them coming as I go along finishing them up

So long,

Ha, yes, clearly we should team up and bully ptoing for one of his and split 70:30.

Also, merry x-mas adcrusher! the third file is ready for printing if you so desire. All your friendly neighborhood copy shop needs to know should be in the file name. If done right it is 18x24 inch medium standard us poster size. Have fun!
