Pixel Art / [WIP] The Galaxy Forge
« on: April 24, 2010, 08:08:03 am »
For the sake of argument, let's just say that the blue sphere thing is the Earth and it's illuminating the space station from below (originally it was the Earth graphic from Chrono Trigger, but I don't think it'd be welcomed warmly if I decided to show that in it as well. There's also the moon in the background but I erased that graphic for this occasion as well). I realize I haven't been here for a while and most likely didn't improve worth jack, but.. yeah.
It's not the 'orbs' of the station themselves that are bothering me, although they could have been done far better, it's the 'wings' themselves which are most troublesome.
If it seems familiar to a certain Star Wars game's space station, then that's pretty much the inspiration.

It's also nice seeing all these professional pixels here again though. You guys rock. :)

Reminds me of Regirock (Pokemon.)... Anywho.

I think you should have longer and larger legs. Even if he's all rock, his upper area is massive compared to the tiny stature of his legs. As for his face.: Well, suggest you go something akin for the shoulders or chest, can't suggest much. Nice work though, but try to include some highlights and shadows to deepen the cracks there?

Well, it is somewhat worse now. The water was good as it, since it didn't have that much of an obvious pattern, and now the color is brighter and there's a visible pattern emerging. I'd advise you to possibly break it up a bit.

Looks nice, but the monotony of the sand and.. green thing (Not entirely sure), plus the water kinda detract from the piece..

The piece is turning out quite a bit better thanks to you guys. I'll consider the much more often sketching practice (Considering I do it a bit rarely. I quickly lose will if I see my art is bad from the get-go.), but here's how it turned out so bad. Also, Feron, sorry for seeming to reject your help at first. But it ended up looking better now. I'll try as much as I can, but I'm seemingly stubborn about these tiny things, and I fear psychological things won't really fit into this thread. =P

It's not like I'm aiming for a very large sprite, honestly. Moving on... (And dear god, I don't really wanna sketch. I'm way worse at that than at pixel art. x.x)

Fixed up some tiny issues with the legs and torso, but now the head bothers me most. Yes.. He's an anthropomorph, yes, it's kinda built-in that he has to look somewhat gender confused.

Pixel Art / [WIP] Tiny work.

Hey again, after all this time, I guess.. Sorry for disappearing. But I return and am still seeking for guidance.
Tiny note, is that I don't want this pose to exactly be any more dynamic. If you honestly wish to give me an example, I'll be happy, since I know about dynamic poses livening up the piece more, as was with the case of my work on Jalie.
I'm having a tiny bit of trouble here on how to tweak the legs and how else I could make this look better. I could go on further, but I wanna get the pose down right before I start filling in any details. Any ideas? (The avatar is outdated by a long shot. I just keep it there as-is.)
I know there is something wrong with his legs, but I want to explain. The character is to have about really defined legs since he's a long time runner, but otherwise he isn't built much in the upper regions. The feet also are a bit troublesome to me, but even after the good ol' mirror trick, I still couldn't find the way to tweak the legs to look better.

Might I add that the reflection might not always be like that? Could be different depending on certain conditions too. (Though take this for the unknowledgeable say.)

Funny to see you here too, CShad. XP

Anywho, my main complaint mostly comes from Nes, as his pants seem to bulk/puff up in the first three walking sprites, then become normal in the last one.
His prepared stance seems to be a bit painful. His legs almost look like he has inverted legs, maybe try to bring his legs closer?

Not much else I can give though.
