It might help the falling down effect to arch his back just a titch and pull the head back to he's looking up, and open the mouth like he's suprised. Right now (IMHO) he's a bit too stiff and expressionless to look like he's dying.

Nice! Looks like the love-children of Keen Dreams and KISS, with a little Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles thrown in for good measure.  I'd like to see some animations sometime. I agree with the Dr. about that last one, doesn't look like any vegetable I know. The broccoli's expression makes me think of Junior from veggietales (that little asparagus), which is rather amusing.

Not sure if I like the inside of the potato's mouth too much, it looks a little flat.

Make more! ;D

Sweet. I loved that game as well. You might want darker darks on the guy, the sel-out still looks pretty harsh. It might help to lighten it up on the shoulders. Walking animation looks fine so far. I'd be willing to pitch in a few sprites if you ever need some help finishing it.

Please do show more!

Interesting style. My main problem with it is his left (his left, not ours) arm, what's going on there? I can't seem to tell where the lightsource is, it looks almost like it's behind and to (our) right of him, but not quite. Some shadow casting would probably help make everything pop out.
That said, the textures and clothing are quite well done, keep at it!

Edit: Aha, I see it now! My suggestions on the lightsource still stay the same though.

Looking good so far, you're planning on animating them, right? I'm guessing this'll be a sidescroller.

There is something that bothers me about the girl's top. I think it's outlined too harshly, especially on the straps and top edges, making it look pillow-shaded. Anatomy on both looks quite good. The girl's hair could also use a bit more volume, I would try darkening the lowest parts and making the highlight colors a bit less spread around. The wings on the guy are very nice, excellent texturing there. You might want to experiment with some hue shifting in the skin to get some interesting effects, but that's really a personal preference.

Congrats, konjak! I was almost positive you were going to win when I first saw your animations. You definitely deserve the win.

sonic08: Are any of those traced drawings? I kind of suspect so, I'd add credit to the original author ASAP if you value your reputation here. (If that isn't the case, I'm sorry, that cloud just seems to look a bit familiar.)

Zach: Gave a couple of your lines a shot.

Had too much fun with the cowboy on an, umm, giant kanga-dog.

And a few things of my own, just some very quick character doodles.

I often use Photoshop for pixeling as well. Just use a 1px pencil tool, easy as pie and with all the hotkeys it's much more efficent than paint, IMHO.

To Kazuya: Looks stunning so far! I can't wait to see this finished.
