to be honest, i don't think i could ever get into mobile phone game dev.  I have always disliked the fact that companies are turning mobile phones into mp3 players, gameboys, tazers, etc...

I'd rather leave my phone for... well, talking to people.  This is the reason i have a really old Nokia.  doesn't even have a backlit screen.

My personal preference would be to develop games for something that games area meant for (originally). Such as the GBA, DS, or even just the computer.  In fact, i'm not even sure i'd want to develop anything for a handheld system at all.  I like non-arcade, memory-utilizing, full-fledged, high-colourdepth, submersive games, and i don't feel that's even remotely possible on such a limited device. (also, i dislike java.)

I am leaning towards C++ at this point, as i have been meaning to learn it anyway.  I was mostly wondering if there was something i might have overlooked that would be more suited to my tastes/purpose.

I agree, a network multiplayer would be sweet.  I could honestly play this game for hours. and having a gamepad does, in fact, make it much more enjoyable in my opinion.
I had seen Prometheus' site and works before, but i never knew he was linked to pixel-arts so closely.  I love his robot/android/etc designs.

Anyway, this is great work. Looking forward to future progress. Keep it up. :)

Alright, so 2d game development is just sort of a hobby of mine.  I haven't released much though, because i am a perfectionist (of sorts) and i feel a lot of my creations are amatuer...

Anyway, i'm a fairly adept GameMaker programmer, (at least, i have gotten away from using the drag&drop feature. :P) and i want suggestions as to what to move onto.  GameMaker is great, but it lacks a lot of... well, power.  I want a language or tool that i can create games with in with more a professional atmosphere, but won't be hard to pick up (within a reasonable amount of time, that is, but i am a quick learner).

Alright guys/gals... suggestions?

The neck is definately too elongated.  Study some sprites from Secret of Mana or Zelda, etc... you will see that because of the perspective, the neck is hidden 'under' the head, since the angle you are looking at them is not at eye level. (obviously)  I'd situate the head more on the level of the shoulders, and lose a little of that neck space.

not much changed on the knight (sadly. i am really tired.) but some sort of effect/dunno. Not sure about the smoothness, i will clean it up, i guess. just an idea.

cool edit! I think i may do some sort of glowing effect, maybe not around the sword specifically, but something to that effect.  Also, i do kinda want to lushen up the armour's colours, to match the swords.  The sword looks nice and clean, like an SNES sprite would, i guess, the rest is kinda dull. (on mine, not your edit.)

I will prolly add just one or two more greens, if it really needs it. but i like to keep my colours to a minimum as to avoid pillowing. (it's a personal preference, mostly.)

thanks again for the edit, i dig it. (although, i have come to dislike the old sheild style. :P)

Alright, here is an update.  just cleaned up a little, shield changed, hand/arm changed, sword changed (i like the turnout on it.)

Yeah, that was just a concept, i am gonna make it more like a traditional shield. failed idea.

Just a little guy i've been working on. It's in it's pretty early stages. So far i've just scribbled out the basic shape and started filling in the basic colours, etc. Still needs a lot of cleaning up, but i wanted to post it here so that i could get feedback before getting too far in.



edits, critiques & the like always welcome.
(especially on the hand, it's really getting to me.)
