I tried to make it more readable and added some features.

I worked on the forehead as you suggested :

Hi Onepixel :)

Lovely piece, i was thinking about tilesets with as much volume as you got in this for my game.

I did a quick edit :

1/ i don't know if you selected your colors on purpose, but it feels a bit sad so i tried to contrast it to see if it enhances the volumes and try to 'brownize' it a little to stick with earth/rock colors. (that's a subjective view, unsaturated colors may work good if you plan on making a game with this kind of art direction)

2/ The two rocks highlighted by the red circles seem to be about to fall, is it on purpose ? If not you may try to avoid outlining them totally like they are right now so as to merge them with the rest of the rocks.

Good luck !

You're definitly right.  I draw different kind of armor for the sprite and couldn't settle on one. As my vision wasn't accurate enough, i failed to render proper details.  I'll try to rework detail on paper before spriting again !

Thanks !

Thanks Seiseki

I think that the feeling comes from the fact that i started from Megaman X sprite.

I'll try to edit the character tomorrow with your rightful advice and make the sprite more readable as i was told in another topic.

Thanks for the help guys :-) !

Pixel Art / Re: Classic Red Skull head sprite, still new to animating.

Hi Kalphablue,

That's a nice piece :)

Depending on the aim, you may keep this 'rigid' way of animating to give this funfair feeling.

But if you want to animate a character with volume, you should think in term of skull and muscles.

Moreover, you should try to animate as many part as possible to give a full motion to his face.

I did a quick edit so you can see what i'm talking about :

Good luck !

Hi Apple,

Thanks for the edit !  You're definitly right for the chest and contrast modification, i'll keep them.

The original drawing i did was this one :

As you can see, there is a visible nose which was represented by the pixel you rubbed.

Pixel Art / [C&C] Falling character taking damage

Hi all,

Still working on my game.

There will be a special scene in which the character is falling.
While falling and being chased by ennemies, he may takes damage.

I tried to animate it and would be glad to get some advice.

Here the gif :

And the spritesheet :

Thank you for your help :-)

Hi !

i like the idea so i messed a little with colors. Don't take it as an advice, i'm training by editing :)

The things i messed with :

Shape :   i did rearrange some parts like the chin, the nose and the mouth so as to get more rational volumes.
Light & Shadow : That's a very good sprite style you have since it requires that you mentally compute the lightining sources and shadow in a detailed fashion. Very good excercise and very interesting as the lights can enhance or lower some part as you want to emphasis on it. I added some shadows to get more contrast.  I also added highlights on the edges of the left part, but can't say if it's relevant or not  :P
Colors : i added more shades and a little AA but i think that's very subjective :)

Good luck with this !
