Pixel Art / Re: [WIP][C+C] platform tileset

okay i was kind of lazy with this and just puushed a screenshot from graphicsgale instead of saving it as an image, so apologies for the sloppiness of the presentation.

also my thing isnt amazing, and the colors are a bit strange in parts, but that's because it's just a quick edit. so hopefully this succeeds in showing you the direction I'd take this:

colors: make the character POP. imo currently your character really kinda fades in with the background. the POP-iness also gives her personality. and that makes it more relatable for the player.

you also had some funky feral stuff going on with the claw hands and imo the legs and feet just weren't working well in that kind of pose. felt off.

good luck man

Pixel Art / Re: Sonic Items

Dude these look perfect, when they're right next to the actual Sonic sprite. They look like they could come from the game itself. That's kinda sweet. Right on, homie.   :y:

Only thing that seems strange to me is the checkpoint thing. The others, for the most part, have crisper outlines and clear definition, but the checkpoint has highlights right on the outline. Could look a bit out of place with some of the other stuff. BUT that completely depends on the context of the game itself, and the kind of backdrops it will be in front of.

Would love to see this shit together in that mockup of a level.

There will always be quality critique from people with greatly varying personal tastes and often good skill.
If one does not wish to improve, there is always DeviantArt.

I've been on there for 4 years... so...
It shows.

But ya dude. What Ryumaru said.  share the image itself and not the video, so we have something we can work with to help you.  ;D

I don't want to put you down because it's clear that English isn't your first language, but it's kind of difficult to understand what you are trying to say.

Also you should put the image directly into your post, instead of linking to some strange website. Here's your image:

Anyways, I think that you have a lot to learn before you try to animate. I personally REALLY dislike this "style", so I'm not going to be much help with the structure of this piece, but you have some major problems with the colors. Your contrast is all over the place. For one, the blacks around the kerchief are really awkward, the dark outline clashes with the softer-colored outlines on the rest of the piece, and it also isn't different enough from the colors used on the inside (which are shaded in an akward pillowy way that doesn't make much sense). The belt doesn't have enough contrast to even look like a belt; I could only see what you were trying to do after zooming in a lot. The dithered pattern on the body just makes no sense.

So yeah, work on your fundamentals before trying to animate. Good luck.

Your color choices are really bland. There isn't nearly enough contrast between them for it to be worth it.

You should share the final image so we can give some proper feedback.

Then again, based on the way you presented this whole thing, I don't think that you're really looking for feedback. Maybe this kind of post doesn't belong at a forum like this.

I find your piece really confusing: particularly the door on the right and all the stuff going on over there. What are you trying to do there? Is it a closet door casting a shadow? The perspective makes very little sense.

Pixel Art / Re: RPG Observatory (help!)

Thanks a lot guys. Good points on the perspective, pixelpiledriver. This is where I'm at now:

The dome suuper sloppy of course, but I need to be clear on the form before I clean it up at the pixel level. Do you guys think that this is the right direction?

Pixel Art / RPG Observatory (help!)

Yo guys. I really need some help with this one.  :'(

This is the piece that I'm struggling with:

It's an observatory tower, and there's meant to be a chunk broken out of the top of it (an alien fell through!). I'm having a really difficult time with this sort of form for some reason, and the hole is just making it even worse. I hope that you guys will be able to point me in the right direction.

It's the opening area of the game, which makes it even more important that I get it right. Seriously, any suggestions will be appreciated.

For reference, this is another map that I created. It shows off the style and tone that I'm going for:

This is really fuzzy and jpeggy. It's hard to give you any proper critique on your pixel technique. Can you post a cleaner version?

This is really cool. I love the style a lot.

My big suggestion would be to curve the chainmail. it's so STRAIGHT right now that it looks really odd with the beautiful curves of the rest of the piece.

okay this edit is actually REALLY bad but i think you know what i mean
