Pixel Art / rpg portrait faces
« on: January 30, 2016, 09:50:11 pm »
hey guys, if you hang out in the awesome slack chat then you probably seen these; looking for feedback on these faces:

first off i want to develop a strong base and then make a few varieties. i'll have to make like over a hundred faces in the end, so I really wanna nail these down. this is where i'm at so far:

i've started making a couple faces using it, but something about them just seems very wrong. might need to scrap these completely if i end up changing the base significantly:

(not looking for anything on the characters; they're already locked in and I'm just trying to make decent faces for them)

thanks guys

Pixel Art / RPG Observatory (help!)
« on: February 24, 2015, 12:12:56 am »
Yo guys. I really need some help with this one.  :'(

This is the piece that I'm struggling with:

It's an observatory tower, and there's meant to be a chunk broken out of the top of it (an alien fell through!). I'm having a really difficult time with this sort of form for some reason, and the hole is just making it even worse. I hope that you guys will be able to point me in the right direction.

It's the opening area of the game, which makes it even more important that I get it right. Seriously, any suggestions will be appreciated.

For reference, this is another map that I created. It shows off the style and tone that I'm going for:

Pixel Art / Platform hero animations
« on: February 01, 2015, 11:21:41 am »
ok so this is what i've been working on lately.

idle beathing, regular running, jump.

these are her sprites with sword and shield. haven't animated them yet, gonna add the sword and shield to the animations above.

i'm more or less happy with this stuff so far. there's room for improvement, there always is, so feedback welcome. mostly these are for context because i'm having trouble with the attack stuff:

obv these are nowhere near as polished as the above stuff. SOMETHING doesn't feel right. could use some advice and feedback for the attacks. thanks guys.

Pixel Art / subpixel animation feedback
« on: April 25, 2014, 01:44:34 am »
so i'm ready for my next big LEVEL UP in terms of pixel art and i really wanna nail subpixel animation.

here are two fairly basic animations/sprites that I made today in which I tried to do some stuff.

i'm fairly proud of them for the most part (especially the druid-necromander guy). i feel like i'm starting to get this down but i figured that it couldn't hurt to share and ask for some feedback  :D

for improvement reference, this is an older animation that i made last year. the perspective is different but it was one of my first attempts at using subpixeling and i don't think that i even did enough for it to make a difference (and where it is noticeable, i dont like it)

Pixel Art / yellow room platformer stuffs
« on: December 26, 2011, 01:07:21 am »
okay so i'm working on an adventure platformer (gonna be made in construct most likely). the gameplay style is planned to be a slower cinematic-type (think original prince of persia rather than mario). i've been working on the graphics for some time! anybody in irc will probably have seen a lot of them but imo its time to actually make a thread for them.

here's a somewhat old concept mockup—it shows off the general feel that I'll be going for

some character concepts (a couple of them are pretty old you might have seen em before):

here are a few misc animations that are more or less done but feedback appreciated. atnas, cow, setz and the others from the irc channel have helped tremendously (bat is wip)

here's a few animations for the hero (walk, powerup, being-shot-out-of-a-cannon)

the one that I'm working on currently is her jumping animation. this is WIP, hoping for some suggestions:

lastly i have spent like all day fighting with a goddamn tornado animation and i'd really love some help with it. i've tackled this thing so many times and i can't stand any of it and i'm just burnt out. i'm putting it aside for now and planning on returning to it later, maybe starting over from scratch.  it's ugly and i hate it :0#

that's it for now friends :O

Pixel Art / sprites platformer and rpg and animations
« on: August 24, 2011, 04:28:39 pm »
hey guys it's been a while  :D

so first i got some rpg sprites:

the main character is Maria de Luz Esperanza Cervantes, a highschool Queen Bee in New York City:

But on a family vacation, her daddy's private plane crashlands on the island of the fountain of youth and she encounters these kinds of guys (the top row being party members) in a zany adventure:

and then some platformer stuff. all of these are incomplete because i wanna get the animation down before i get into the details:

this one i was just practicing leg movement it led to:

platformer hero walk cycle.

her newer design

Pixel Art / Mortimer Cool's cool walk animation
« on: July 06, 2009, 05:11:29 pm »
Hey. Haven't posted in quite a while. Over the past couple of days I've begun developing some characters for a platform game.

I've begun doing the animating for the main character, Mortimer Cool.

I'd love feedbac on everything. Expect more soon. Thanks. :)

EDIT: Man, I just looked at my ancient topics on this forum and I can't believe how much I've improved.

Pixel Art / Plaformer Character Design
« on: October 18, 2007, 09:16:16 pm »
Allright guys, this is hands-down the best forum I know of for getting critiques. I've posted some stuff in the past here and have improved a lot because of it. I used to try to make platformers with RPGMaker which was really stupid. Since then I've discovered Multimedia Fusion and can finally make something that I want to make. So I'm trying to do some more serious platformer spriting now and am working on developing a style.

A little old (maybe a month) but pretty representative of the level I'm currently at:

(don't focus as much on the woman to the side- that's not really the style I want to develop as much as the cartoony platform guys)

These are character I made today at work.

Corporate America and his partner Big Business.

Scroll down for updated posts.

Old====
Yo. Just joined up hoping for some great feedback.

I'll get right into it.

Punching.

Walking.

Walking, with arms.

Thanks. I'll update soon.

Edit:

Might as well show this for fun. It's pretty old, actually. The graphics were for a platformer a friend was making in Python.
