yeah.  Still getting a feel for rigging and uv mapping.  But I want to try to go as far as I can with her (3rd base at least) before begining a new character.  Then I guess I'll have to look into zbrush and normal mapping and blah blah.

doh I just got rid of the fan:

I know I've seen fans used for things like tables though.  Is one more optimal than the other?  Or does it not really matter.  And Huzba, when you say keep my faces planar, do you mean just try not to let them twist much?  Treat the quads as solid quads, not as flexible quads made up of tris.

Also, is this not a good thing to do:

hmmm.  I need to rip out the more organic ship models from Eve Online and check them out in Maya.  Would probably be a good way to learn.  *downloads 14-day trial*

loc - when i see the piece, i cant help but wonder if the environment says all that you need it to, without the people there.  they dont seem to add much to the piece, which is already very good.
Yeah I dunno for some reason I always feel like there has to be a person in an image.  So I tack em on.  Unfortunately I can't draw people without reference so they tend to bring things down.

My first 3D model, still working on it:

I know there are some modelers here.  What are the requirements to make a clean mesh for import into a game?  I know video games use tris.  But I've seen people model in quads.  You can have the program convert to tris when you're done.  At the moment I'm mixing tris and quads.  Is this ok?  Are there rules for how many edges are allowed to radiate from a single vertex?  etc...  Haven't even begun to look into the process for UV mapping.  Sigh.  Daunting.

I don't think your moderatorship and your site are as linked as Helm views it, no.  Forgot to address that.  I see the job of the moderators here as keeping the boards clean and in order, putting out flames, etc.  Putting in the work towards maintenance that the average member doesn't want to deal with.  Posting free vids and teaching what you can, writing good crits, etc, is more just being a valuable and productive member of the community.  Anyone can do these things, without being a moderator.  But not anyone can do the job of a moderator, keeping order and trying to be unbiased when arguments happen or whatever.  I guess thats why I don't see as much of a problem with this whole thing, as it relates to Pixelation.

heh.  I checked out Kons site cause his link thingy in his sig was new and I was like "cool new Kon art".  I visit and see that there was a registration requirement and promptly left.  I had no idea there was a fee too.  Registration was perplexing enough.  I wouldn't pay for Craig Mullins content.  Unless it was full length DVD with voice over explanations and all that.  Then I might.  But thats Craig Mullins.  I'd like a Barron Storey DVD as well.

His decision doesn't jive well with Pixelation, or with reality in general, but calling him out in public is kinda... eh.  I can't imagine anyone actually subscribing anyway.

Enjoy.. :D

hmmm, poop... it appears the first one he did with all the particles isn't there.  Judging from the messages it looks like the forum crashed and these were a repost of the activity.  The later spell effects he did are nice too though *saves*

hah funny seeing my old avatar and whatnot.
