Pixel Art / Art for a iPhone game
« on: April 13, 2011, 04:49:22 pm »
Hello once again, I am currently working on art for a iPhone game, the gameplay is meant to be sort of like dungeon desktop, or pretty much any 2d dungeon crawler.

So far I've only done the basic tiles that are going to be used for a majority of the game, I have some problems with picking a good colour for the walls and I have a few to pick and choose between (or maybe even have to redo the colours all together).
I have also made what was supposed to be the player character, I have some problems with colouring on this one however, it sticks out just a bit too much and I fear that there just isn't enough contrast.

What I have planned is that every tile and character is going to be twice the original size later in the game, to make it easier to see and control. I haven't yet decided if everything is going to be static (as in, when the characters move you'll only see the front of them all the time) or if I'm going to draw them in every direction they can walk.

Would very much appreciate any help you can give!
Thanks in advance.

Pixel Art / Batman
« on: April 10, 2011, 11:57:22 am »
I've decided to scrap the two helmets and proceeded with drawing something new instead, picture 4 posts down is the one I'm drawing

Greetings, I started drawing the helmets the guys in Daft Punk uses yesterday and the first incarnation was this :

I felt that the helmet on the guy to the right was not completely realistic in terms of lightning, one reason for that was me not having a fixed source of light on either of them.

So I did what any man would do and recoloured:

The source of light is now currently in the top left corner, slightly behind the helmet. I'm not entirely happy with the colouring however, and I'm not sure how to properly fix it so I would very much enjoy C&C on it so that it can become a lot better :)
Thanks in advance!

Pixel Art / [WIP] Roman legionnaire
« on: March 05, 2011, 08:28:03 pm »
Hello again, I began drawing a roman legionnaire a couple of days ago, pictured below ;

At first I was pretty pleased with how it turned out, but after I went to bed and woke up the next day I saw some glaring errors that I hadn't noticed last night.
This leads me to the current picture where I'm retooling the whole picture ;

This is the picture that matters. I was pleased with a couple of parts of the soldier such as the loincloth, the spear, sheat for the sword, helmet, feet, right arm and shield. Still, I'm pretty sure you guys can point out any things I've done badly in those parts so I would like some help with fixing those errors first before I continue on.

If that makes any sense, thanks in advance :)

Pixel Art / [Finished] Man rowing boat
« on: February 22, 2011, 12:58:56 pm »
Hello esteemed members of Pixelation, the finest pixel-art forum on the internet. I've been lurking around here for a while now and I figure now would be a good time to join to publish both my art and to help others with critique.

The backstory of this picture is the following ;
I'm planning on drawing a man, rowing his boat in the middle of the ocean. He has a barrel of toxic waste with him that he plans to dump, effectively killing each and every fish in the location nearby. He will then laugh like a maniac, saying fuck the ocean. So far I've done the following ;
This is void, decided to go with just a man rowing.

The man rowing the boat, I plan on adding waves and ripples in the water around the boat (something I forgot to draw when I drew it) and smoothing out the boat pushing forward.

I've also drawn the barrel that the man is pushing out of the boat, no animaton on the man himself though ;

The splash has been reworked and coloured, which is the picture below:

All of this is pretty much new territory for me so I'm sort of stumbling around, and I'd love some critique on this. I will keep updating this thread with progress on it all :)
Thank you for taking your time!
