I actually think the first portrait in that sequence suits your sprites really well.
Following that, I think the FFIII (is it?) portrait works second best.
Keep well clear of the Fire Emblem style as it really doesn't match your sprites or tiles.

uh....was the final word on what YUS got used yours?..cause...I know the one that's up isnt my YUS....C.c
I believe that's mine. Someone recoloured it though.
These three are mine too: ^-^ 8) :-*

Move the back wheel further back along the z-axis and your problem will be solved. :y:
I'm really digging the black girl with the big hair. She's much cleaner than some of the others.

i know what you mean about the rear wheel though, i jsut don't know how to adjust it without making the thing a bicycle (right now it's a trike)

Trouble is it doesn't look like a trike. It looks like a bike.

Hopefully this extremely sloppy edit will help in some way.
I was mostly trying to get rid of the horizontal stretching of the head.
Everything else had to follow after it though... :blind:

Newest kid on the block.  One question the FAQ failed to satisfy: when do I earn posting privileges at "Challenges & Activities"?  Presently, no New Topics permitted.

Thought Helm (and some others) would enjoy this:

Before this, when we were to decide on something I kept saying “It’s instinct”, so I’m actually surprised myself! (laughs) For example, everyone thinks of a cute, cuddly character when they’re asked to think of a character called Mario.

The types of cute characters that seem like they would be living in the Mario world.

Because they believe that the characters should be that way, they have a set image in their mind of things like how the eyes should always be wide open.
But I don’t really draw my characters with really big, wide-open eyes. And when a new staff, who had that misconception about the way Mario characters should be, would come up and show me some sketches saying “Look, I drew some Mario characters”, and they would look nothing like the Mario characters that I was thinking of. Lately, all the artists’ techniques have improved compared to the past, but their styles seem to look more and more uniformed.
There’s this pre-created template of a “well-drawn picture”, and it seems like the younger artists’ styles are forming to that template.

They have technique, but they lack character.

Reminds me of all of Helm's anti-anime rants. :P

On my trip around Europe, there were many hours spent on trains, boats, planes, and buses, and thanks to my trusty DS Lite, and the homebrew app Colors (can't recommend it highly enough) I was able to use this time to doodle.

So here are the fruits of my labor in chronological order:

This was my first proper sketch using the app, and I believe I was really starting to get a feel for it towards the end, before abandoning this image.

My first speed paint with the app. I think it turned out reasonably well. Unfortunately I accidentally tapped the screen with my palm whilst drawing, and two white lines lashed their way across the image. I painted over them, but they're still visible in places.

Went for some smooth rendering on this one, and was very impressed by how well the app performed.

This is an unfinished portrait of my 5 year old cousin Amy. The likeness really isn't there, but I like the watercoloury feel.
