Pixel Art / First pixel art in a decade
« on: June 10, 2022, 09:38:26 am »

Well, it's been a decade since I've done any pixel art, but I was feeling inspired, so here's my first piece in 10 years.
Didn't really pay attention to colour count and could probably optimise a lot, but I wasn't really intending this to be a full mockup when I started.

As for the piece, it's fan art for a game called Backpack Hero.
Backpack Hero is an Indie developed inventory management roguelike.

Check it out if you're interested in seeing the original:

(I'm in no way affiliated with the project beyond being a backer on kickstarter)

Pixel Art / [Finished] Pixeljoint Mimic Me Challenge
« on: January 12, 2012, 04:41:27 pm »
Hi guys, it's been 3 years since I last tried my hand at pixel art, so this is all very nostalgic for me.
I thought I'd try and get back into the swing of things with an entry for the current contest over at Pixeljoint.
So without any further adieu, here's what I've been busying myself with for the last 5 or so hours.

Was hoping to get this done in one sitting, but I'm pretty burned out so I thought I'd post here and get some feedback before continuing and hopefully finishing this thing off tomorrow.
There's still quite a bit I have left to do, and most of the right side of the piece is still very much unfinished.
It's weighing in at 20 colours so far, and I can't see it creeping terribly much higher than that by the end.

Pixel Art / Emoticon set
« on: March 26, 2008, 05:30:42 pm »
Spent the last few days on and off making a set of emoticons for a friend of mine's new forum.
Thought I should get some comments on them, as a lot of people I show them to seem to be disliking them.

Still got quite a few left to do, and I should probably mention that I'm using a tweaked version of Snake's palette (subject to change).
Oh, and yes, the circles are NPA.

Pixel Art / Something new from me.
« on: June 18, 2007, 07:35:58 pm »
Yeh, haven't posted much art since the renewal of Pixelation, so I thought I should post some stuff.

Obviously haven't finished anything but the wizards yet.
I have a lot more of these that aren't worthy of being posted yet, but when they are expect an update.

C&C is welcome. The girl is obviously still very much a WIP.
I'd also be very grateful if someone could direct me to some nice sites with lots of pictures of fashion through the ages - eastern and western.

Pixel Art / Experimenting with new method.
« on: November 19, 2006, 06:37:23 pm »
Typically I make an outline first and then detail, so this was a bit of an experiment, but I think I actually prefer doing it this way.
Obviously still far from done, but I think I'm more likely to finish it if I post it somewhere, so here it is:

It's refreshing pixelling after a long absence of it. Zelda again I know, but TP just came out so I'm pumped.
CC is welcome.

Edit 3:
After Crits:

And a bit of fun:

Edit 2:
So... update (finished):

Pixel Art / God

Shigsey from Wii Sports Tennis.

Noe said he prefers the bottom palette, so I included it.
Might make the rest of them...

Pixel Art / Breaking the Silence
« on: May 07, 2006, 04:32:57 pm »
I've been pretty quiet since... the creation of these boards, and so, I thought it was about time I posted something new.

Very quickly made (about 5 minutes), but I'm actually quite happy with it - I hope you can all tell who he is.
10 colours, incl. transparency.

Pixel Art / <.< I've had a bad Christmas, give me sympathy replies... >.>
« on: December 26, 2005, 05:59:56 pm »
Actually my Christmas was pretty good, but I'd still like some C+C on this...

12 colours, including the green which I would've made transparent but I always seem to forget to do now days...
Was limiting myself to 10, but I liked the contrast the blue eyes made...

The character was originally designed as part of a cast of gamblers in a Casino comic I was planning on drawing, but decided against.
Anyway, I quite liked the sketch, so I decided to convert it to Pixels; so here he is...
Midway through, I begun to picture him in a Casino game for the Nintendo DS. I don't plan on attempting such a game, but I made the portrait as though I were. Hence the empty space down the bottom. I figured there'd be a table covering that part, and his lower arms and hands would be animated on a seperate layer.
So now that that bit of backstory is out of the way, crit the hell out of him!

Lineart if anyone wants to have a go at colouring it...

I already posted this in the Lineart thread...

Pixel Art / Hi all, looking for some help.
« on: November 15, 2005, 12:30:35 am »
This post is a bit different from the usual, as I'm not looking for crits here, but rather animaton examples.
I'm looking for someone or someones, to post links to run cycles that they think would be applicable to the following sprite:

Feel free however to post comments and crits if you'd like.

...I am more actively spriting now days. :P
Here's a few emoticons I made for MSN.

Feel free to make your own expressions for him and or use them.
