It's supposed to be more of a volcanic, ashy-looking skeleton. Charred, burned, etc. Another update, this time with silly apparel!  :lol:



...And a sword. :u

The weapons were hard to distinguish from the rest of the skeleton, so I made a new palette for them. I might brighten it and take away a little saturation. I also took away a very blurry part in the belt, which I didn't realize I did until after I posted.

This was something I did for fun. I'll add on to it later.

Critique is welcome, and I used Photoshop to do this, so please fix any close colors if there are some.

I see the trees are jagged. If you want to go for a more retro and spritey feel, imagine the world in tiles, and only one thing can go in that tile, if you know what I mean .-.

It looks nice, and awfully similar to Spelunky's protagonist. However, it looks a bit too blocky and the shading is very soft. It looks like a gradient, actually.

The first thing you want to do is make the bottom of the walls curved with the top. You also might want to make the torches a bit less harsh. If you do cut the corners all the way through, the brick pattern needs to be angled as well. I did a small edit to show some of my points.

They're supposed to have outlines.   :sry:
The individual stone and iron blocks are supposed to be blocks on their own, with their own outline. The rock texture is a texture, so it won't get an outline.  The left stone block is not really even supposed to have one, I need to fix that. The lighting is bad, I need to work on it. :l

I've done some more spriting recently and I've come up with an idea for a small game, all about decisions you make.
I've made a small amount of tiles for it and I hope to get some criticism on them.
 
                                              

Currently, I have trouble keeping style looking consistent from blocks to other objects, and I need to look more into lighting.
I also have trouble lighting metals, like the metal pillar you see there. I do love the style of the metal blocks, though.
