Pixel Art / Re: Orc for isometric rpg game
« on: February 19, 2011, 09:14:36 pm »
First of, welcome to Pixelation :)

Second, Gamer36, your post is neither helpful nor informative in any way. Sprites usually are not antialiased on the outside like that because that would look horrible once they are presented against a background.

And the reason to not "waste colours" is that it is not beneficial for the editing process to add colours people can not discern anyway.
Lesser colours = lesser things to worry about. If you want to use your colours effectively the more you have the longer you will work on your picture.

I made a small colour edit and brought your orc down from 66 to 16 colours.

Left is mine, can you tell the difference at a glance?

I guess you used something like photoshop to make this sprite and used not quite opaque brushes. There were loads of colours which were only used once or twice and a lot of very close ones too.
Ok, ptoing, I know you put me down a lot, as you did this time, the anti-alising was incase Gidralisk just wanted to showcase it. Also, he gives me "Big-many" thanks so seemingly my post was useful to SOMEONE. And BTW, the back of it looks GREAT, might benefit from having a full 360 rotation?

2D & 3D / Re: Official OT-Creativity Thread 2

My first proper 3D model. A bit less than 500 tris, 128x128 texture. \o/

I know this was posted 4 years ago and, I probably WILL get a strike (and saying and knowing that I probably will get a strike will probably get me banned) but I just HAVE to know... How did you make that? And since this might lower my chance of getting banned I've decided to post a few of my drawings.
LINK TO RIDICULOUSLY LARGE PICTURE
For the 1st and 2nd, the explanation is in the drawing, for the third, it is here: My idea of ptoing's "Mod" form, not his "Pixel Artist" form. For those who don't know, the thing covering his head is a bag (I have no idea why) and his legs turned into a tree trunk. The reason they turned into a tree trunk is because I'm lazy and when the legs got to close together I just made them into something thin, like a tree trunk... Not to offend ptoing (as if I haven't done that already) but I just HAD to draw that. In case I do get banned for eternity, please remember me as the pixel artist nub, not the guy who pissed ptoing off...

If you break your neck or laptop trying to look at my picture you can't bring me to court, I already broke my neck (Lame)

EDIT: I have no idea why it was super duper enlarged...

Pixel Art / Re: [WIP] Curse of the Caves (EGA DOS game)

You haven't worked on it for a while but, I though I'd bring it up. The ice tile, when it was dark in looked more like a gemstone-ish thing and when you gave it the lighter color it looked MUCH better.
If you ever want to do a flash port of this project, i'd be more than willing to help(i'm a flash developer). Hell I can even help with the pixel art if need be (big EGA fan).

I would love a game like this, great concept but, I don't really see the ghost things fitting in, they look like they are more part of the background. If the player is supposed to fight them or something then they should be smaller, but not too small so they are the same size as the player.

Their arms should be longer.  People's arms are usually long enough for them to touch their own crotch without bending over.  Their arms seem to be growing out of their necks, though.  I think you should give them broader shoulders.
Definitly and, the hips, they look like they are mutants, I mean yes girls have bigger wastes than girls but those are HUGE.

imgur.com is the easiest, imo.
I totally agree.

Did the dirty deed of anti-alising it, I think I'm finally getting better at it. I don't have much critique other than... MAKE MOAR! It was great, the only thing I would suggest is minimize your palette, and I'm only saying that because for some reason ppl here think you shouldn't "waste colors".
