I agree, if the mockup actually showed the gay bashers as the baddies, I wouldn't have had a problem with it. As the game was designed, there was no way to win, it was understood that wrenches were going to be thrown at you forever. Which I guess isn't a bad lesson at all to learn, because it's probably true, at least figuratively... But it does make the stomach turn.

I'm not racist or discriminatory by credo, however I wouldn't hesitate to make a gay joke. I view all groups as equal, however some stuff is too outrageous to pass up.

It must be really nice to be a straight white male and not give a damn about anybody else.

The challenge is about turning a movie into a mockup for the NES. Without the context of the movie, the mockup is completely devoid of meaning... you can't sepparate the two so easily.

I will not criticize the movie, IMO it was brilliant. It did not depict killing a homosexual in a jolly tone, unlike mice's mockup.

@ Stwelin: Don't try to bend my words, of course pregnant ladies are not fair game. You can make a joke about killing them tough, and (likely) no one will get upset. Because pregnant ladies are NOT routinely killed, they won't feel threatened/personally attacked by the joke. I can't believe I even have to state this.

I really do believe now that mice meant no harm, he didn't even know that Jack was murdered in the movie. I'm sure that if he did know, he wouldn't have made that image. Can we please just put this behind us already?

Nobody was censored. I did not ask for the image to be removed, but I could not go without expressing my disgust with the subject matter, and I am glad he had the sensibility to decide to take the mockup down himself.

I will not get into the argument of whether his drawings were harmless or not. If you saw the image and description and didn't think anything of it, there's nothing I can say that will change your mind about that. Maybe you just didn't pay enough attention to the movie. He was not just any cowboy, and wrenches were not thrown at him out of nowhere, for no specific reason.

I can't believe tough that we still have to resort to drawing parallels between racial and sexual discrimination to make people understand that it IS a big deal. It's 2008, when will people just get it?

Last month in the US, 2 gay youths were killed as a result of hate crimes. 15 year old Lawrence King took three bullets to the back of the head by one of his classmates. 17 year old Simmie Williams Jr. was attacked by two men and then shot. Countless others are harassed and beaten every single day. I won't even get into the global scene, if you want to know just google "gay hanging in Iran". Now what were you saying about pregnant women?

Now on topic: I'm calling dibs on Elvira: Mistress of the Dark.

Was there a bashing? Isn't that the primal question of the movie?

The movie showed quite clearly Jack being beaten to death by three men, as his wife was telling her version of what happened to Ennis.
Now I don't know if you were deliberately trying to be offensive or not, but the point is that it is offensive.
